English – Assistant Professor, Creative Writing—Fiction The Department of English at Hope College invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in Creative Writing—Fiction to begin Academic Year ‘22 - ‘23. Successful candidates will have a strong grounding in contemporary fiction and narrative technique. The typical teaching load is three four-credit courses per semester. The Department of Psychology at Hope College seeks applicants for a tenure-track assistant professor position in social psychology beginning Fall 2021, pending final financial approval. Primary teaching responsibilities are in social psychology. The standard teaching load is three courses per semester, typically with one or two preparations per semester. Candidates will be expected to teach social psychology that integrates research experiences. Other courses may include Multicultural Psychology, Psychology and Culture, Introduction to Psychology, Research Methods, or an advanced course in one's area of expertise. Because the Psychology Department is a national leader in faculty-student collaborative research, candidates should have a program of research that can excite and involve undergraduates. Being an outstanding teacher and engaging diverse undergraduates in all phases of the research process are two essential elements of this position. We also welcome innovative teachers who skillfully integrate research with teaching. Primary teaching responsibilities are in social psychology. The standard teaching load is three courses per semester, typically with one or two preparations per semester. The Department of Art & Art History invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Studio Art in Drawing to begin in August 2021. We are a NASAD accredited, BA granting, fine arts program in the context of a liberal arts college.
The ideal candidate will be a dynamic artist with an active exhibition record whose studio practice is demonstrably based in drawing, with the ability to teach traditional drawing materials and techniques as well as the potential to teach new genres that overlap or intersect with drawing. These genres might include one or more of the following areas: performative drawing, video/film, mixed media, printmaking, painting, large- and small-scale installation, social practice, motion graphics, sound art, digital practices or other hybrid and emerging art forms.
Embracing interdisciplinary explorations and promoting student excellence within a liberal arts context is at the core of the department’s mission. Familiarity or willingness to learn basic online platforms is required of all faculty.
Candidates will demonstrate ongoing engagement with critical theory and methodologies as well as a global perspective that embraces diversity and inclusion through their studio practice, teaching or service.
The department places a high value on administrative vision and collaborative leadership. Experience with, or aptitude for, campus wide service and governance will be expected as the candidate progresses in the tenure track path and beyond.

The Department of Art & Art History invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Studio Art in Drawing to begin in August 2021. We are a NASAD accredited, BA granting, fine arts program in the context of a liberal arts college.
The ideal candidate will be a dynamic artist with an active exhibition record whose studio practice is demonstrably based in drawing, with the ability to teach traditional drawing materials and techniques as well as the potential to teach new genres that overlap or intersect with drawing. These genres might include one or more of the following areas: performative drawing, video/film, mixed media, printmaking, painting, large- and small-scale installation, social practice, motion graphics, sound art, digital practices or other hybrid and emerging art forms.
Embracing interdisciplinary explorations and promoting student excellence within a liberal arts context is at the core of the department’s mission. Familiarity or willingness to learn basic online platforms is required of all faculty.
Candidates will demonstrate ongoing engagement with critical theory and methodologies as well as a global perspective that embraces diversity and inclusion through their studio practice, teaching or service.
The department places a high value on administrative vision and collaborative leadership. Experience with, or aptitude for, campus wide service and governance will be expected as the candidate progresses in the tenure track path and beyond.
In addition to drawing courses, the teaching load may include interdisciplinary capstone courses such as the department’s studio/seminars for all senior majors (such as ART 365 or 350, which the faculty teaches on a rotating basis https://hope.edu/catalog/current/art/index.html#tabs-3 ), or a first year or senior seminar. A unique and attractive draw of this position is that the faculty member would be eligible for the Howard R. and Margaret E. Sluyter Endowed Professorship in Art & Design after the probationary period.
