The successful candidate will join the research teams of Dr. Kathleen Chiotos and Dr. Jeffrey Gerber in the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Epidemiology and Antimicrobial Stewardship (IDEAS) Research Group at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Dr. Chiotos an attending physician in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) at CHOP, and Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania with a secondary appointment in pediatric infectious diseases. Dr. Chiotos’s research interests are related to the epidemiology and treatment of multidrug resistant gram-negative infections as well as antimicrobial stewardship in the PICU setting.
Dr. Gerber is an attending physician in the Division of Infectious Diseases at CHOP. His research focuses on the epidemiology and outcomes of antimicrobial use in children with the goal of improving clinical outcomes while limiting the emergence of antimicrobial resistance. His approach benchmarks antimicrobial use across clinical settings to identify high-impact targets for improvement, followed by 1) comparative effectiveness studies for clinical scenarios where practice variability exists in the absence of evidence; 2) interventions to implement and disseminate evidence- based practice where prescribing guidelines do exist; and 3) qualitative assessments of the clinician, practice, or institution-level factors that might drive antimicrobial prescribing.
The ideal candidate will have a Master’s Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics or a related field. This role will have both project coordination and data management responsibilities. Prior research experience and proficiency with R, Stata, or SAS biostatistical software are required. Experience operating in a patient-oriented research environment cleaning and analyzing large clinical or administrative datasets is preferred.
The applicant is expected to work comfortably as part of a research team. The successful applicant should have strong writing, organizational, and analytical skills. Description The Hope College Education Department invites applications for a tenure-track position, in the PK-3 bands/ early childhood and elementary education beginning in the fall 2022 semester. Description The Hope College Education Department invites applications for a tenure-track position, in the PK-3 bands/ early childhood and elementary education beginning in the fall 2022 semester. We seek candidates who will effectively teach the early childhood classes, foundation classes, early literacy classes, advise teacher candidates and develop and maintain relationships with programs and schools in and around the Greater Holland Community. Special Education endorsement is a plus. Rank will be at the assistant or associate professor level and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in education, advising teacher candidates, organizing and supervising clinical experiences in the field including those at Hope’s lab school, fostering positive relationships and partnerships in both area schools and private programs, and active participation in departmental and college activities (primarily participating in the department, elementary and national accreditation teams).
Qualifications General qualifications include a valid teaching certificate with an early childhood and elementary endorsement, a record of excellence in teaching and scholarly/creative activity, experience in and a commitment to diversity in education, knowledge, and skills in assessment, application of technology for instruction and effective interpersonal and communication skills. The candidate selected for this position will demonstrate expertise in knowledge of early childhood curriculum and programs and have extensive teaching experience. To be considered for this position, candidates must have a Ph.D., or E.D., focused research agenda, teaching expertise, and proven program leadership skills.
