Job Description

PeopleTec, Inc. is currently seeking a Software Configuration Manager to support the TARDEC's Software Engineering Center, Department of Army in the Warren, MI location.

The Software Configuration Manager will ensure the integrity, reliability and reproducibility of our internally and externally developed embedded system software products from conception to release and have a hands-on role with the support of software for the Army's current and future ground combat and tactical vehicles, weapons and support systems; and will require involvement in all stages of the development cycle.


Job Description:

  • Responsible for Software Configuration Management (SCM) of developmental and operational systems. Responsible for implementation and improvement of SEC SCM processes.
  • Operate and maintain SCM infrastructure, toolsets and database/records.
  • Regulate the change process so that only approved and validated changes are incorporated into product documents and related software, licenses, media and other IT assets.
  • Account for and report on the location and configurations of hardware, software, and related property in a real-time configuration management system.
  • Maintain common software libraries.
  • Produce version description documents.
  • Support conduct configuration audits and support quality assurance inspections.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Skills/Experience:

  • Knowledge of implementing CM discipline for the entire life cycle of systems from initial requirements and capabilities baselines to system end-of-life.
  • Knowledge of software configuration management tools; the candidate should understand CM/Release Management best practices.
  • Ability to apply concepts and define and implement software configuration management processes and procedures, including creating product build scripts and procedures, and integrate those scripts with the hardware and software build process.
  • Ability to work on teams to create and maintain software and documentation configuration baselines, including development, test, and production, track all problems and changes in product documents and software and reports changes, control standard operating procedures, and current configurations.
  • Ability to maintain the CM environment for software product build, staging, testing, and integration.
  • Experience with developing or modifying SCM plans, policies, and procedures tailored to the complexity and scope ofthe developmental or operational system.
  • Experience with identifying configuration items, implementing change control, configuration status accounting, and configuration audits.
  • Experience with software industry best practices like Capability Maturity Model Integrated at least level 3 standards.
  • Experience using software configuration management tools to manage baselines and support product release.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • A Secret clearance is required to perform this work.  Candidates are required to have an active clearance upon hire, and the ability to maintain this clearance level during their employment.


Education Requirements:

A preferred Master's Degree in Software Engineering with course work related to Software Configuration Management and Release Management.  A minimum requirement of a Bachelor's Degree in Software or Computer Engineering or Computer Science with course work related to Software Engineering.
