The employees occupying the positions of this class are responsible for performing and resolving technical and complex civil engineering tasks and problems within the framework of broad engineering and administrative guidelines within transportation. The Engineer I is an entry level engineer position in the Public Works Department. These employees operate from an office or in the field performing work under the supervision of an administrative supervisor. This is the first step in a career progression that continues to the Engineer II position and the Engineer III position. Engineer II employees work on more complex engineering tasks with less supervision and Engineer III employees manage the most complex engineering projects and are Certified Professional Engineers. The Engineer II position is the second step in a career progression that begins with Engineer I and ends with Engineer III. Engineer II employees perform tasks with limited supervision and require substantial use of independent judgment within the scope of advanced engineering assignments. Engineer I employees perform basic engineer work under the supervision of an administrative supervisor. Engineer III employees manage the more technical engineering projects and are Certified Professional Engineers. This transportation professional role is responsible for the review of land use and development engineering applications, plans, and reports for transportation concurrency, street and road standards. This position will be responsible to prepare transportation staff findings and presentations to the County hearings examiner regarding the required public improvements. Qualifications
Engineer I
Education and Experience:
• B.S. degree in Civil or related engineering.
- OR -
• High School Diploma or G.E.D. and two (2) years relative engineering work experience and possession of an E.I.T. certification.
Knowledge of: engineering principles, practices and the techniques and equipment involved; physical (hydraulics, mechanics, etc.) and mathematical (trigonometry, calculus, geometry, etc.) sciences and their application to engineering and field surveying computations and engineering design; construction materials, material testing and application; basic principles of supervision.

Job Purpose
To perform routine preventive maintenance on a variety of light and commercial mechanical equipment at an institutional setting. To work independently to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on HVAC auxiliary equipment, plumbing equipment related to mechanical equipment, electrical equipment such as motors, breakers and their associated controls. Duties include performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment problems and making repairs as required.
Minimum Requirements
A high school diploma or GED , completion of a technical training program in a maintenance trade equivalent. A minimum of two years related experience and/or training (building or equipment maintenance); or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Basic knowledge of building systems and components. • General knowledge of maintenance and repair processes and procedures for building systems and components. • Basic knowledge of architectural, structural and building construction work methods, materials and practices. • Knowledge of standards, technical specifications, regulatory codes and safety regulations pertaining to the work performed. • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, operating manuals, diagrams, and charts of a complex technical nature. • Ability to operate instruments, tools and equipment related to the work assignments. • Excellent communication skills including verbal, written and presentation skills. • Exceptional attention to detail, specifically in accuracy of calculations and completeness of data. • Proficient in the use of personal computers for the preparation of detailed Building Condition Assessment reports. • Knowledge and skill in computer applications and related programs in support of business activities. • Experience with a work order management system is a plus. Additional Comments Regarding Position
Must be able to perform manual labor and work outside in heat, humidity and inclement weather. Must be able to work in close quarters, climb ladders/stairs, enter/exit hatches, and work on rooftops. Must be able to work in areas of excessive heat/cold and lift or move furniture, objects and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Overtime and call back work is required after normal working hours and on weekends, as needed. May be required to be on campus prior to and immediately following all emergencies such as hurricanes, floods, etc.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: You will be responsible for receiving, processing, packing and shipping blood products/samples for hospital orders. You will triage the order based on date and time needed, select and carefully pack life-saving blood products with the correct temperature regulating product to ensure safe transport . You will communicate with hospital clients, volunteers, and vendors, and maintain product records to preserve traceability. As a Red Cross Team member, you will take care of your team members – show up for every shift and give 100% while you’re there. Interact in a positive, proactive, and customer-focused manner with both internal and external customers, demonstrating care and compassion at all times. WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD : Key Responsibilities Ensure products/samples are suitable for release for distribution, while meeting production goals. Perform good inventory management practices throughout the manufacturing and shipping process Prioritize workload to meet production and customer requirements. Perform data entry associated with further manufacturing, labeling, storage, ordering, and shipping; maintain and review accurate physical and electronic manufacturing records Analyze and make decisions based on visual inspection and information provided from other departments to meet time requirements and quality standards. Identify and quarantine products/samples that don’t meet quality requirements, and perform disposition of unacceptable product May make hospital deliveries as assigned The aforementioned responsibilities of the Distribution Technician describe the general nature and level of work and are not an exhaustive list. Standard Schedule : Monday - Friday 7AM-3:30PM with weekends, as needed. Pay Information :$17.10 per hour There is a shift differential of $1.75 per hour from 3pm-11pm, $2.25 per hour from 11pm-7am and an extra $1.00 per hour for any weekend hours. WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED : High School diploma or equivalent Two years’ experience in a regulatory, distribution or manufacturing environment is preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience Good computer skills, attention to detail, accurate documentation, and good decision-making skills. Position may require a valid driver’s license Physical Requirements: Requires standing, stretching, stooping and bending for extended time periods . Lift, pull, push and move objects of up to 50 pounds . May work in walk-in refrigerator/freezers for periods of time .
