Mapp Biopharmaceutical is a small biopharmaceutical company focused on addressing unmet medical needs through the development of life-saving monoclonal antibody treatment options to combat a variety of neglected and tropical infectious diseases.  The Director of Project Management will partner with the Principle Investigator (PI) and the technical team on a specific Drug Development program to ensure the program is appropriately integrated.  The Director of Project Management will be responsible for establishing and maintaining best-practice Project Management tools and templates for use in the management of the integrated scope, timeline, budget and risk progression within the specific Drug Development program.  The Director of Project Management will also be responsible for all project-level reporting as aligned with US Government expectations.   

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS or equivalent required, (MS/PhD is an asset)
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in a Drug Development or related industry
  • Minimum of 3 years in a Project Management role within a Drug Development organization
  • Experience as Project Manager for government-funded programs required
  • PMP certification is an asset
  • Understanding of the Drug Development paradigm from pre-Candidate Selection through Post-Licensure to support a team through planning and development of integrated schedules
  • Experience as a Project Manager for complex Drug Development projects/programs
  • Specific experience in a Project Manager role for monoclonal-Ab based programs
  • Demonstrated capability to build, use, and maintain Project Management infrastructure, including scope, timeline, budget, risk and reporting to manage projects/programs
  • Ability to leverage past experience and team capabilities to build high-level directionally correct long-range plans to support forecasting, scenario planning and portfolio level planning
  • Experience with US government contracting and Project Management deliverables
  • Experienced in using Microsoft Project for creation of credible plans, for tracking project progression, and identification of program constraints
  • Ability to provide effective project communications, verbal and written, tailored for specific audiences
  • Ability to translate complex information into a logical and credible plan
  • Ability to work independently (with minimal supervision) as well as work in a team environment with changing timelines and priorities
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, and attention to detail PREFERRED: Experience with programs at different phases of Drug Development

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in supporting US Government grant or proposal planning and writing
  • Previous experience in labor and capacity planning
  • Previous experience in a technical role, such as non-clinical, CMC or clinical, on a Drug Development team
  • Previous experience establishing effective working relationships in a virtual environment
  • Previous experience with mentoring and/or development of co-workers


  • Partners with program Principal Investigator (PI) and technical team to establish and maintain a fully integrated drug development plan
  • Ensures all the contractual deliverables are met including (but not limited to), reporting deliverables, project progression, scope management and risk evaluation
  • Ensures all key communications to stakeholders, including agenda, meeting pre-reads, meeting minutes, technical reports, regulatory submissions etc., are complete, clear and concise and meet the contractual requirements
  • Establishes and maintains core PM tools, templates and processes, including, formal scope documents, timelines, budget, and risk management for specific programs
  • Partners with Technical PMs to ensure vendors, sub-contractors and consultants have established the necessary PM rigor and sub-contract deliverables are flowing into overall program management requirements
  • Partners with PI to manage all internal project planning, scope, strategy discussions
  • Leverages prior experience to provide technical and operational input and feedback as part of the program core team
  • Supports and provides input on the establishment of full Project Management capability for use across the portfolio as a core part of the Mapp Project Management team
  • Establishes and maintains tools and processes for all formal reporting deliverables including biweekly, monthly, annual reports as well as deviation and change control reporting for specific programs
  • Interacts with vendor, sub-contractors and consultants directly, as necessary, to provide feedback, training, support for necessary PM tools
  • Facilitates the regular PM update meetings with the PMs supporting the program
  • Provides input into vendor decisions, technical plans, data analysis, reports as required
  • Facilitates scenario planning, budget forecasting, and long-range planning
  • Provides planning, writing and reviewing support for proposal preparation, including Request for Pricing solicitations to vendors, vendor decisions, scope of work definition, development plan and funding structure, risk identification, labor planning etc.
  • Provides training and mentoring to team members as needed
