Serves as a resource person for international student activities and diversity issues in the academic curriculum and co-curricular programming.
Oversees student identification card distribution and Food Pantry.
Administers the student grievance process to include serving as ombudsman for student concerns.

Interprets federal ADA and Section 504 regulations and formulates institutional policies and procedures for serving qualified students with disabilities.
Prepares Student Conduct and Title IX (Sexual Harassment) trainings for students. Creates class/program presentations to students along with Public Safety, Student Health Clinic, and local non-profit.
Collaborates with legal counsel on Student Conduct Code updates and issues as well as with Title IX -Sexual Harassment Code updates (or rewrite) and issues.
Establishes and maintains relationships with the community, legislative bodies, commissions, accrediting agencies while representing the college and student services.
Analyzes data to develop long-range plans, establish objectives, and improve plans in student services.
Participates on internal and external committees or advisory boards as assigned.
Serves on the President’s Leadership Committee.

Minimum Qualifications

Reporting to the Academic Dean, the Senior Associate Dean is a highly skilled education leader responsible for providing innovation and excellence in the leadership, management, and oversight of HGSE's degree programs (Ph.D., Ed.L.D., and residential and on-line Ed.M. degree programs) and student services and supports, which include Admissions, Financial Aid, and the Office of Student Affairs. General Duties and Responsibilities School and University Engagement
As a senior leader at HGSE, collaborates and works closely with the Dean's Office, members of the faculty, students, and other University and HGSE administrative offices to build, foster, and coordinate a culture of success across offices and teams to ensure incoming and current student needs are met and that the student experience at HGSE is exceptional.
Serves on School and University-wide committees and works on special projects as needed.
Leadership of Degree Programs
Works closely with the Deans, Director for Master's Studies, Director for Doctoral Studies, and faculty across the school to further develop strategies and programs that position HGSE to attract and retain highly qualified students and maintain the school's place as a leader in the field of education.

With the Director of Student Affairs, Admissions, and Financial Aid, identifies and implements strategies that leverage synergies between admissions and financial aid.

Manages the financial resources of the programs including developing and overseeing operating budgets.

Essential Job Functions
Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Reviews diagnostic tests and documentation, writes course accommodations and coordinates resources to meet students’ accommodation needs.
Advises appropriate faculty and staff regarding the implementation of students’ accommodations.
Coordinates contracted professional services (Interpreters, etc.).
Coordinates selection and implementation of auxiliary aids, assistive technology, and other services.
Assesses effectiveness of accessibility services for students.
Maintains confidential, individualized records and database of students with accommodations.
Responsible for completion of monthly/semester/yearly reports as needed which reflect compliance of and documentation for state and federal regulations. Reviews all outgoing reports related to special accommodations for accuracy and consistency.
Coordinates with the Waterloo Career Center and area high schools to provide concurrent accommodations.
Provides coordination with high school counseling and special education offices to assist in the transition of students with disabilities.
Collaborates with advisors concerning student educational planning issues including course planning and selection.
Keeps up-to-date on federal, state, and local laws and regulations; current litigation, industry standards, and best practices relative to services for students with disabilities; recommends or initiates appropriate institutional responses when changes occur.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in a relevant field such as counseling, social work, special education, or psychology.
Three years of experience in an educational or health services setting.
Demonstrated knowledge of ADA and Section 504 necessary.
Demonstrated ability to understand and review psychological, medical and other documentation.
Demonstrated knowledge of principles in working with persons with disabilities.
Demonstrated knowledge of accessibility services.
Demonstrated experience with individuals needing accessibility accommodations.
Demonstrated ability to work with and provide customer service for diverse populations (faculty, staff, students, and general public).
Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service, maintain customer confidence and protect operational integrity.
Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Masters degree in a relevant field.

Salary will be commensurate with the applicant’s education and experience. Anticipated schedule is Monday – Friday with an occasional evening.

Requires skills for succeeding in an office environment, using technology. Requires good hand-eye
coordination including visual acuity to use a keyboard and read technical information; arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp. Work is performed in an office setting. Sit, stand, bend, lift and move intermittently during working hours. During the course of the day, interact with students, faculty and staff in person, by telephone and computers.
