Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.

Position Summary: The position requires a Radio Frequency (RF) engineer with satellite manufacturing and operations experience to provide technical leadership in the construction of new satellites and maintaining the health of the on-orbit satellite fleet. The candidate must have experience in the Communication payload and Command, Telemetry and Ranging (TC&R) subsystems with respect to their design, construction, testing and operation. Additionally, the candidate must be able to collaborate with other technical groups within Sirius XM as part of the overall service delivery system to maintain the high quality of service to our customers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Generate the technical specifications for new satellites.
Participate in the satellite design reviews, including leading the evaluation of the communication subsystem.
Define satellite test requirements for all major test phases and conduct data reviews to validate satellite is compliant with specifications.
Maintain test data trending and summaries across test phases and for the SXM fleet of satellites, including on orbit performance.
Support technical meetings at the satellite manufacturer and its subcontractors.
Perform on-site monitoring during key test phases such as spacecraft thermal vacuum and antenna/spacecraft range tests.
Participate in launch activities, including traveling to the launch sites.
Participate in the payload in-orbit test activities, including traveling to the test sites.
Support on station operations through both routine evaluation of payload health, contingency recoveries, and anomaly investigations.
Interface and collaborate with Sirius XM earth station group regarding TCR optimization across the fleet, on-orbit payload performance measurements, and technical issues affecting service.
Interface and collaborate with the Network Delivery Systems group on design updates, service quality optimization, and service delivery issues.
Assist in drafting and filing regulatory licenses (FCC and ITU) for earth stations and satellites.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
No direct people management responsibilities, but oversight of contractors and consultants will be required.
Minimum Qualifications:
BSEE/MSEE in RF Engineering or equivalent experience or military training
10 years-experience at a satellite manufacturer or operator or equivalent, relevant experience.
This position requires the use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). As required by ITAR, to perform this position you must be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e., ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Knowledge of the individual units that makes up the Payload and TC&R subsystems.
General knowledge of earth stations antenna design and operation.
Knowledge of performing on-orbit satellite EIRP measurements.
Must be able to perform RF link budgets and analyze.
Thorough knowledge of MS-Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
Experience with Satsoft and FCC/ITU satellite licensing software preferred.
