Partner with the Conservation Voter Movement, a network of over 30 state leagues, on various projects, including joint letters, and provide timely updates on federal legislation.
Assist with LCV’s electoral work, including work with candidates, PAC investments, and the Congressional Candidate Questionnaire.
Collaborate with the Development department and other staff to craft materials that will help raise resources for our conservation work.
Travel up to 10% for in-person work, including to Congress, federal agency offices, offices of partner groups, staff retreats, and conferences, as needed.

Qualifications:
Work Experience: Required – Must have at least four years experience handling public policy issues, which could include working in a legislative office, in the executive branch, or at an advocacy or political organization. CJNRC is seeking a Communications Strategist II to join our Communications Department. The Communications Strategist II will support the development and implementation of strategic communications plans that advance a pro-worker narrative on climate and promote union-led climate jobs campaigns, perspectives, and priorities. The Communications Strategist II will work closely with CJNRC’s campaigns, legal, and policy departments to support campaign communication strategies and tactics with a nationwide network of unions and state-based climate jobs coalitions, identifying opportunities to secure strategic coverage and amplifying the voices of workers leading the charge to build a clean energy economy powered by union jobs. The ideal candidate is an experienced campaign communicator with a deep commitment to building the labor movement and fighting the climate crisis.
The Communications Strategist II will play a critical role in CJNRC’s Communications Department and will work closely and collaboratively with state-based climate jobs coalition staff and leadership.
This position reports to the Deputy Communications Director.
Description of Duties, including but not limited to:
Support implementation of communications strategies and tactics in collaboration with campaign staff and coalitions to win pro-worker, pro-climate policies at the state and local levels;
Serve as a resource and partner to state coalition leadership and staff, providing ongoing communications support;
Write and distribute communications materials, including press releases, advisories, op-eds and letters to the editor, memos, social media copy, backgrounders, messaging guidance, and other communications materials for campaigns, often translating dense policy concepts into digestible messaging that resonates with press and the general public;
Support state-coalitions with pitching stories to reporters, producers, and editors to secure favorable coverage (TV, radio, online and print);
Prepare climate jobs spokespeople for interviews and public appearances, including drafting talking points and providing formal media training and informal prep sessions prior to each interview or event;
Develop social media plans and content, including video and graphics;
Monitor relevant trends and developments in media and culture, and identify opportunities and suggest strategies for positioning unions and climate jobs coalitions in the field;
Perform other duties and special projects as needed;
Occasional travel for events and campaigns.
Experience and Qualifications
A strong commitment to progressive social change, racial justice, a familiarity with the issues that are central to CJNRC’s work and vision;
Three years of experience as a communicator, preferably for a labor union or allied advocacy organization;
Campaign communications experience, familiarity with working collaboratively with field, campaigns, policy, and legal in developing and executing communications strategies and tactics;
Experience working with the media including print, broadcast and digital;
Familiarity with digital organizing and social media, including live-streaming and video content creation;
Strong interpersonal, leadership, and problem-solving skills, and the ability to operate professionally in a team environment;
Exceptional writing, editing, messaging, and verbal communication skills with sharp attention to detail;
Strong verbal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively;
Proficiency with databases and PR software such as Meltwater and Cision;
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage large volumes of projects, tasks, and files;
Self-starter, can work independently and remotely, set and reach individual goals, and handle a variety of personalities in collaborative environments;
Willingness to work outside of standard work hours when breaking news occurs;
Experience with Wordpress or other content management systems a plus;

Working conditions: This is a full-time, remote position. Long hours will be required on occasion. The position will require some travel. CJNRC will follow public health guidance related to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In partnership with our Executive Director and two Managing Directors, you will lead and strategize at the organizational management level.
Manage and oversee seasoned campaigners on our Climate , Water , and Tobacco campaigns toward high-functioning and aligned corporate campaigning, grounded in our anti-racist values and commitments, through strategic guidance, progress assessment, feedback loops, and troubleshooting as needed.

Hours: Corporate Accountability’s full-time staff generally work 32 hours per week, with periods of more intensive work that correspond with the ebb and flow nature of campaigns or projects throughout the year. Work to build trust, cohesion, and alignment between your staff/team and the organization’s leadership through developing and strengthening internal coordination systems as well as overseeing strong coordination between the campaigns, research, development, and communications teams.
Work in close coordination with our communications team to ensure our corporate campaigns integrate and implement communications campaign strategies and tactics.
Manage relationships with key funders and partner with fundraisers to ensure they have what they need, including external messaging on campaign plans and strategy.
Support team leaders to build a shared understanding of organizational priorities and budgets, providing support across programs you oversee to manage program budgets, while maximizing their strategic impact. Additionally, play a lead role in our annual organizational planning process and ensure campaign plans and goals align behind our annual organizational plans and budgets, mission, and vision.
Build and hold relationships with organizational allies to develop and seize opportunities to build international visibility and solidarity for Corporate Accountability’s campaigns and stand in solidarity with frontline justice struggles around the world.
Facilitate strategic planning meetings, and support campaigns staff as they do so, in partnership with our allies—keeping an eye towards racial equity, and ensuring we have the long-term and short-term vision, strategy, goals, and plans to advance an integrated campaigns agenda.
Represent the organization at ally convenings, campaign events, coalition spaces, and as an organizational spokesperson in the media.
Travel 2 - 4 times each year to represent Corporate Accountability at events such as international treaty meetings or national campaigns events. We will continue to be mindful of global health concerns and continue to center the health and safety of our staff in travel decisions.

Salary and benefits:
Salary range: $100,535 - $128,715 in alignment with recent updates to our salary and compensation protocols.
Hours: Corporate Accountability’s full-time staff generally work 32 hours per week, with periods of more intensive work that correspond with the ebb and flow nature of campaigns or projects throughout the year. Responsibilities:
Build, develop and work with a base of dedicated grassroots leadership in the community that is part of the development of campaigns and are advocating for environmental justice, community health policies, and the protection of our democracy.
Create opportunities for community outreach and build coalitions by organizing meetings, tabling at events, and partnering with organizations.
Identify potential new members, recruit, engage and retain new volunteers by conducting one-on-ones, presentations, and door-knocking and utilizing other community organizing strategies and methods.
Develop a base of youth volunteers by working with local high schools, colleges, and universities to build civic engagement and develop their leadership.
Support volunteer leaders in the development and sustaining of organizing committees that are involved in advancing campaign goals.
Work closely with the organizing team and Chispa TX Program Director to implement and evaluate issue-organizing campaigns centered on democracy and climate justice that successfully recruit volunteers, build grassroots leaders and get the attention of decision-makers and media.
Collaborate and coordinate with the Chispa TX Digital Organizer in implementing digital strategies, developing digital content, and recruiting new online volunteers while ensuring alignment with program campaign goals.
Maintain and build relationships with schools, churches, community organizations, labor unions, public health groups, and other local organizations to work in partnership to advance shared goals.
Track organizing work and data meticulously in VAN; submit reports to the Chispa TX Program Director.
Support volunteers or promotores in learning technology to participate in Chispa TX online events.
Manage a small organizer budget to support promotores work and entry point opportunities to bring in new members.
Travel up to 10% of the time in-state and out-of-state for organizing activities and staff retreats and conferences, as needed.

Qualifications:
Work Experience : Required – 2 years of experience in grassroots community organizing, issue, or labor organizing programs. Successful track record of grassroots community organizing, training volunteers, leadership development, implementing strategies and tactics, and partnering with other groups. LCVEF is hiring a Vice President of Civic Engagement who will lead year-round civic engagement strategy, managing staff, and democracy and civic engagement programs, including voter contact, integrated voter engagement, managing data, sharing tactics and strategies for relational organizing, while leading partnership and coalition management to advance voter protection and combat voter suppression nationally and with our state partners. This role will be focused on building power with a grassroots base that can urge decision-makers to take unprecedented bold action to confront climate change, working closely with the organizing teams of our 30+ state affiliates, collectively called the Conservation Voters Movement (CVM) in protecting our communities and environment and defending our democracy. Responsibilities:

Support the Director of Civic Engagement in the planning and execution of a multi-state site-based voter registration program, including managing a complex mix of relationships with state affiliates, other LCVEF staff and leadership, funders, organizational partners and state 501(c)(3) tables.
Manage a strong team of staff who are motivated and equipped to effectively implement their work plans and achieve their goals. Manage and contribute to a positive, collaborative and inclusive workplace culture while holding staff accountable and mission driven.
Oversee the development of the Civic Engagement program budgets and allocations to state leagues and vendors. Closely track and regularly report status updates and projections to LCVEF leadership.
Coordinate with LCVEF and state LCVEF staff to ensure that Civic Engagement work is integrated into LCVEF events and strategies including relationship building, media communications, and online actions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Support our work to build the capacity of our network in navigating and influencing equitable implementation of water infrastructure funding, particularly the State Revolving Loan Funds (SRFs), including conducting research and analysis, supporting the development of trainings, webinars and fact sheets, and network facilitation.
In collaboration with partners in our network, lead the development of foundational drinking water education materials utilizing River Network resources (ex: Drinking Water Guide and Building Blocks of Trust ), including writing and designing fact sheets and managing logistics for trainings and educational webinars.
Collaborate with Drinking Water and Communications teams on opportunities to improve our virtual training capacity and impact, including desk research and supporting the build out and management of an online learning platform.
Collaborate with Drinking Water staff and external partners to identify policy and programmatic opportunities for improved water affordability outcomes.
Support the research, development, and maintenance of drinking water resource pages, databases and other tools for our network (ex: SRF resource page , Great Lakes Drinking Water Database ).
Attend relevant meetings with members of our network and partner coalitions to better understand current drinking water needs and opportunities for River Network-led support.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education in a related field; 2-3 years professional work experience preferred;

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Support our work to build the capacity of our network in navigating and influencing equitable implementation of water infrastructure funding, particularly the State Revolving Loan Funds (SRFs), including conducting research and analysis, supporting the development of trainings, webinars and fact sheets, and network facilitation.
In collaboration with partners in our network, lead the development of foundational drinking water education materials utilizing River Network resources (ex: Drinking Water Guide and Building Blocks of Trust ), including writing and designing fact sheets and managing logistics for trainings and educational webinars.
Collaborate with Drinking Water and Communications teams on opportunities to improve our virtual training capacity and impact, including desk research and supporting the build out and management of an online learning platform.
Collaborate with Drinking Water staff and external partners to identify policy and programmatic opportunities for improved water affordability outcomes.
Support the research, development, and maintenance of drinking water resource pages, databases and other tools for our network (ex: SRF resource page , Great Lakes Drinking Water Database ).
Attend relevant meetings with members of our network and partner coalitions to better understand current drinking water needs and opportunities for River Network-led support.

Responsibilities:
Work with the Chispa National Director, key staff and state and local partners, and the community to develop, implement and evaluate short-term and long-term programmatic plans that prioritize civic engagement, base building, leadership development, and issue-based campaigns on climate justice and democracy.
Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of issue organizing campaigns that build a strong base of volunteers, develop grassroots leaders and inform and drive policy victories for climate justice and the defense of our democracy.
Collaborate with LCV’s Democracy For All Team to oversee voter registration and engagement program's planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Ensure that Chispa Nevada’s programmatic areas such as voter education, voter registration, GOTV initiatives, civic engagement, organizing, and issue-based campaigns are aligned and coordinated.
Lead the hiring, coaching, and supervision of Chispa Nevada program support staff; guide and support the program’s short and long-term goals and professional development.
Work with the Chispa National team and other departments at LCV to coordinate support for the Chispa Nevada program, including coordinating with the Chispa National leadership and Institutional Giving team on fundraising efforts for the Chispa NV program to ensure sustainability.
Develop relationships and partnerships with Latinx organizations, climate groups, leaders, and policymakers.
Collaborate with the Chispa National communications team and partner with organizations and consultants to implement a Spanish-language and Latinx-focused communications strategy.
Actively participate as a thought leader in the Chispa network, the Community and Civic Engagement department, and the Conservation Voter Movement and contribute to building an inclusive organizational culture.
