Head Cook/Chef General Duties: The Camp Cook/Chef is responsible for overseeing kitchen staff, providing meals for campers and staff during summer camp program. This includes preparing meals for special diets, cleaning and organizing kitchen and appliances, general cleaning, and maintaining meal records. A primary function of this, and every other job at Sky High Ranch, is to ensure that each member, guest, and visitor receives the highest caliber of service.
Prepare meals for 175 +/- people per meal.
Prepares all meals on time as scheduled or assigned.
Ensures special food requirements for both campers and staff, e.g., food allergies, gluten-free and vegetarian diets are managed with utmost importance for 100% accuracy.
Responsible for ensuring food items are readily available for staff on weekends.
Partners with administrative staff to plan, prepare, and deliver timely and accurate pack-out and travel camp food.
Works with Program Director to create prep sheets for special event orders.
Check menus daily for any required advance preparation; Prepare and assign production and prep work for Prep/Assistant Cooks to complete.
Observe methods of food preparation, cooking, and sizes of portions to ensure food is adequately prepared.
Ensure proper cooking methods and recipes are followed.
Perform quality audits and specs checks, including temp checks on food items and dish machines.
Ensures that CDPHE Food Regulations are being followed by all kitchen staff; Performs daily temperature checks for coolers and products.
Assists with breakdown of workstation and completion of closing duties ensuring all Prep/Assistant Cooks' and Dishwashers' assignments are completed before they sign out.
"Head Cook/Chef", as designated by Program Director, shall be responsible for:
Menu planning, recipe creation, and ensures overall functionality of the kitchen.
May assist in food ordering as directed by Program Director.
Partner with Program Director to make recipe or menu changes so that foods will be utilized before expiration date to eliminate waste as much as possible.
Partner with Program Director to reward and recognize staff for individual and team success.
Performs check in of all incoming food supply orders (verifies amount ordered vs invoice amount, ensures it is properly stored and rotated).
Contribute as a leader of the department by supervising Prep/Assistant Cook and Dishwashing staff on improving operational efficiencies as needed.
Ensure and promote the sanitary integrity of the facility, equipment, and food products.
Maintains kitchen cleanliness and proper food preparation according to state and local health department code requirements and departmental procedures.
Maintains overall sanitation, health, cleanliness, and safety standards for food preparation areas, cooking services, and dishes and utensils.
Regularly sanitizes kitchen surfaces throughout the day; Assists in daily deep cleaning of specific areas in the kitchen, e.g., floors, counters, overs, stoves, fridges, etc.
Washes hands frequently while working in the kitchen and in accordance with CDPHE health regulations.
Keeps stock rooms, coolers, and freezers clean; Ensures that food supplies are rotated, and all perishables are labeled, dated and stored properly.
Assists with unloading, inspection, and storage of raw ingredients and supplies.
Assists Kitchen Manager in inventory requests, as requested.
Reports any accidents or injuries to manager/director.
Respects the confidential nature of all information pertaining to staff, volunteers, and girls.
Lives by the Girl Scout Promise and Law.

Minimum of six months experience in an industrial kitchen, required.
Prior experience cooking and serving 175 +/- people per day, required.
Documented experience in meal preparation for those with restricted diets and/or food allergies, required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficient understanding of sanitation and regulations for workplace safety.
Proficient understanding of nutrition guidelines, food handling techniques, preparation (including safe preparation of food for those with restricted diets and allergies) and cooking procedures.

Assists Cook/Chef to prepare meals as scheduled for 50-250 people per meal.

Dishwasher and Kitchen Assistant General Duties: The Camp Dishwasher/Kitchen Assistant is responsible for kitchen dishes for meals for campers and staff during summer camp program, cleaning/ organizing kitchen, and appliances. Dishwasher and Kitchen Assistant General Duties: The Camp Dishwasher/Kitchen Assistant is responsible for kitchen dishes for meals for campers and staff during summer camp program, cleaning/ organizing kitchen, and appliances. In addition, dishwashers will assist in kitchen as needed during meals. A primary function of this, and every other job at the Tomahawk Ranch, is to ensure that each member, guest and visitor receives the highest caliber of service.

Responsibilities
Labor Center Education and Internship Programs:
Manages day-to-day operations of Labor Center education and internship programs within the parameters set by the Program Director/Leads.
Contributes to the development of the overall program for Labor Center’s education and Internship Programs, with support from Program Director(s).
Develops the logistics work plan for the execution of Internship Programs.
Ensures the work plan is being executed well.
With direction from Program Directors(s)/Lead(s), develops outreach plans to identify campus units, student groups, sites and student participants.
Contributes to outreach to unions, worker and community organizations with direction from Program Director.
Under the direction of the Program Directors(s)/Lead(s), communicates with external partners about student engagement, internship opportunities and placement.
Recruits and coordinates alumni participation in job fairs, guest presentations, and programs.
Ensures the internship sites are aware of and compliant with University guidelines
Provides training and mentorship to students.
Holds one-on-one meetings with students throughout the semester to gauge their academic and professional interests to help place them with internship opportunities.
Meets with students one-on-one throughout the semester to provide ongoing mentorship/guidance.
May develop and present trainings on Labor Issues for student audience based on student interest.

Supports the wrap up and evaluation of programs.
Documents changes for the next program based on evaluations.

Student Engagement Programs & Events - Administrative Support:
Documents administrative processes for the successful execution of programs, events and initiatives.

Collaborates with other program assistants to provide administrative support to the Labor Center programs.

About KIND:
Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) is a global leader in the protection of unaccompanied refugee and migrant children. Launched in 2008, KIND champions a world in which every child’s rights and well-being are protected throughout their journey to safety. KIND has accepted over 23,000 referrals of children seeking legal representation in their immigration proceedings. KIND has welcomed more than 41,000 attendees to trainings since its founding, cultivating partnerships with over 670 law firms, corporate legal departments, law schools, and bar associations across the country.
KIND’s social services program ensures that migrant and refugee children – who have often endured trauma – receive counseling, educational support, medical care, and other comprehensive services.
To address the root causes of child migration from Central America, and strengthen the protection of unaccompanied children, KIND advocates for policy changes and educates lawmakers, the media, and the broader public on the conditions that drive these children to flee their home countries. KIND supports children returning to their home countries by connecting them to essential support services and sponsors gender-based violence prevention programs in Central America to protect children in countries of origin and transit.
KIND is also building upon its expertise in the protection of unaccompanied children to encourage the development of pro bono initiatives across Europe in partnership with European NGOs.
Position Summary:
KIND seeks a Staff Attorney to provide expert legal services to unaccompanied children facing removal proceedings through zealous direct representation as well as pro bono facilitation, including robust consultation, training, and technical assistance to pro bono attorneys who have accepted KIND cases. As needed, supervise Senior Paralegals, Paralegals, interns, and/or other non-attorney staff. The Staff Attorney will report to the Supervising Attorney.
Essential Functions:
Oversee paralegals ensuring the provision of high-quality intakes and legal orientations for unaccompanied children residing in immigration detention facilities. Review legal screenings conducted by paralegals to determine children's preliminary eligibility for immigration relief.
Make "friend-of-the-court" appearances on the juvenile detained docket in Immigration Court on behalf of detained children. Enter representation in certain cases.
Communicate regularly with shelter staff regarding the status of children in detention; advocate for alternative placements on behalf of children who are in danger of "aging out" of ORR care or seeking placement in long-term foster care facilities.
As needed, represent a smaller docket of children in their applications for relief who do not have reunification options and must remain longer in detention.
Once children are released locally from detention, provide zealous direct legal representation to children in their removal proceedings and in their applications for immigration relief. In certain cases, depending on experience, caseload, and organizational priorities, place those cases with pro bono attorneys and provide robust consultation and technical assistance to pro bono attorneys. The percentage of mentoring and direct representation caseloads will be determined by management in the Legal Programs component.
Perform ordinary functions of legal counsel providing direct representation, including legal research and formulating the legal strategy for the case; conducting client interviews; appearing before immigration and/or state court or agencies, and drafting and filing court pleadings and applications for benefits.
Place cases with pro bono attorneys and build relationships between KIND and the pro bono community.
In coordination with KIND’s Training and Technical Assistance Team and the local field office Senior Attorney/s, as needed, help develop pro bono training resources and local training curriculum, including sample filings and guidance packets. With supervision, present training to pro bono attorneys and community groups.
Ensure entry of timely, accurate, and detailed case data into KIND’s case management systems.
Contribute to overall office functioning, including joining field office and KIND-wide calls and meetings, participating in the field office and KIND-wide committees, and assisting with office events.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Fluent in English and Spanish.
Minimum 1-year experience practicing immigration law, which should include representation of clients in humanitarian immigration claims such as asylum, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, U visas, and T visas.
Minimum 1-year experience working with children, preferably immigrant and refugee children, or experience working with vulnerable populations, survivors of abuse, human trafficking, or other trauma.
Strong record of cultural competence and cross-cultural communication skills.

Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) is a global leader in the protection of unaccompanied refugee and migrant children. Launched in 2008, KIND champions a world in which every child’s rights and well-being are protected throughout their journey to safety. KIND has accepted over 23,000 referrals of children seeking legal representation in their immigration proceedings. KIND has welcomed more than 41,000 attendees to trainings since its founding, cultivating partnerships with over 670 law firms, corporate legal departments, law schools, and bar associations across the country.
KIND’s social services program ensures that migrant and refugee children – who have often endured trauma – receive counseling, educational support, medical care, and other comprehensive services.
To address the root causes of child migration from Central America, and strengthen the protection of unaccompanied children, KIND advocates for policy changes and educates lawmakers, the media, and the broader public on the conditions that drive these children to flee their home countries. KIND supports children returning to their home countries by connecting them to essential support services and sponsors gender-based violence prevention programs in Central America to protect children in countries of origin and transit.
KIND is also building upon its expertise in the protection of unaccompanied children to encourage the development of pro bono initiatives across Europe in partnership with European NGOs.
Position Summary:
KIND seeks a Staff Attorney to provide expert legal services to unaccompanied children facing removal proceedings through zealous direct representation as well as pro bono facilitation, including robust consultation, training, and technical assistance to pro bono attorneys who have accepted KIND cases. As needed, supervise Senior Paralegals, Paralegals, interns, and/or other non-attorney staff. The Staff Attorney will report to the Supervising Attorney.
Essential Functions:
Oversee paralegals ensuring the provision of high-quality intakes and legal orientations for unaccompanied children residing in immigration detention facilities. Review legal screenings conducted by paralegals to determine children's preliminary eligibility for immigration relief.
Make "friend-of-the-court" appearances on the juvenile detained docket in Immigration Court on behalf of detained children. Enter representation in certain cases.
Communicate regularly with shelter staff regarding the status of children in detention; advocate for alternative placements on behalf of children who are in danger of "aging out" of ORR care or seeking placement in long-term foster care facilities.
As needed, represent a smaller docket of children in their applications for relief who do not have reunification options and must remain longer in detention.
Once children are released locally from detention, provide zealous direct legal representation to children in their removal proceedings and in their applications for immigration relief. In certain cases, depending on experience, caseload, and organizational priorities, place those cases with pro bono attorneys and provide robust consultation and technical assistance to pro bono attorneys. The percentage of mentoring and direct representation caseloads will be determined by management in the Legal Programs component.
Perform ordinary functions of legal counsel providing direct representation, including legal research and formulating the legal strategy for the case; conducting client interviews; appearing before immigration and/or state court or agencies, and drafting and filing court pleadings and applications for benefits.
Place cases with pro bono attorneys and build relationships between KIND and the pro bono community.
In coordination with KIND’s Training and Technical Assistance Team and the local field office Senior Attorney/s, as needed, help develop pro bono training resources and local training curriculum, including sample filings and guidance packets. With supervision, present training to pro bono attorneys and community groups.
Ensure entry of timely, accurate, and detailed case data into KIND’s case management systems.
Contribute to overall office functioning, including joining field office and KIND-wide calls and meetings, participating in the field office and KIND-wide committees, and assisting with office events.
As needed, supervise Senior Paralegals, Paralegals, interns, and/or other non-legal staff including onboarding, skills training, daily support and coaching, review and quality assurance of filings, regular check-ins, and performance evaluations, and provision of consistent and effective supervision and oversight.
Qualifications and Requirements:
J.D. and admitted to the local state bar (If not admitted to local state bar, must sit for bar exam or start waiver to be admitted within 6 months and be able to be admitted within one year of employment).
Fluent in English and Spanish.
Minimum 1-year experience practicing immigration law, which should include representation of clients in humanitarian immigration claims such as asylum, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, U visas, and T visas.
Minimum 1-year experience working with children, preferably immigrant and refugee children, or experience working with vulnerable populations, survivors of abuse, human trafficking, or other trauma.
Strong record of cultural competence and cross-cultural communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and persuasively both orally and in writing.
Ability to take initiative, multi-task, and work independently.
Experience working with law firm attorneys and/or other legal volunteers preferred.
Ability to work within an office environment and have regular interaction via telephone, videoconference, IM, and email with KIND's team.
Regular/weekly travel to local immigration detention facility required.
Ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds, lived experiences, and communication styles.

Salary Range: $75,000 - $84,300 a year
