The Development Department of the ACLU’s National office in New York, NY seeks applications for the full-time position of Manager, National Donor Data.


Under the supervision of the Deputy Director of Development Operations, the National Donor Data Manager will work in tandem with the Affiliate Donor Data Manager to ensure that systems and processes are aligned and standardized in the most effective way to meet the organization’s nationwide fundraising goals. The Manager plays a critical role in the ACLU’s ability to operate an extremely complex, diverse and fast-paced fundraising program. The position will work closely with nationwide fundraisers, technical members of the Digital, Technology & Analytics teams, colleagues in Affiliate Support & Nationwide Initiatives, Business Operations & Support Services and Finance.




  • Work closely and build trust with Development stakeholders both at national and affiliate offices to define and document best business practices and requirements as they relate to fundraising systems.
  • Translate business requirements and needs to technical teams in Digital, Technology and Analytics.
  • Partner with the Manager of Affiliate Donor Data, to develop and maintain the processes for checks and balances to create mutual accountability across national and affiliate offices to ensure data sharing, data integrity and data entry standardization.
  • Communicate and document business process updates for Development users nationwide.
  • Work with internal training team, to provide instruction and assist users with data entry practices.
  • Problem solve data, system and business issues by developing a deep understanding of the organization’s fundraising program, revenue sharing model, the technology that supports these efforts and user needs.
  • Create queries and reports and assist with data uploads.
  • Collaborate with the Manager of Affiliate Donor Data, on the review of reports and data requests from nationwide Development users to ensure consistent data definitions and optimize the use of existing resources.
  • Project manage the Annual Donor Listing project between National and Affiliates staff.
  • Provide pro-active and reactive data support for the Development department as assigned.

  • 3-5 years of experience with fundraising and donor data management required.
  • Basic SQL proficiency required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a track record of attention to detail.
  • Project management skills a must.
  • Capacity to work pro-actively, independently, and, collaboratively as part of a team.




  • Experience with Salesforce, RoundCorner/NGO Connect and related fundraising or CRM platforms a plus.
  • Intermediate SQL proficiency preferred.
  • A willingness and ability to determine, manage and quickly adjust priorities as needed demanding a high degree of multitasking and an ability to meet deadlines.
