Responsibilities

This position works as part of the facilities department and is responsible for providing maintenance and repairs to electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems and devices, as well as general maintenance and repairs. 

Responsibilities include:

-Performing a variety of work to maintain all buildings on campus such as pressure washing, painting, and inspecting buildings/equipment to ensure good and safe operating conditions.

-Performing routine servicing of mechanical and plumbing systems as part of the preventative maintenance program. Troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing mechanical and plumbing systems/devices.

-Assisting staff on installing and maintaining electrical and mechanical equipment/devices.

-Provides basic support to staff Telecommunications Specialist with installation and telecommunication devices repair.

-Generates and responds to emails and work orders via online work order system.  Updates work order system once per day regarding progress and/or upon completion of assignment.

-Performs other duties and assists with special events as assigned.  Assists with emergency and or special Facilities maintenance projects as needed.  Remains on-call during designated periods outside normal working hours as needed.  While on-call, the incumbent may be required to return to the work site to respond to maintenance emergencies.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or Equivalency and two years experience, or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to two years. Technical or vocational degree in plumbing, electrical work, HVAC or other trade may substitute for experience.

Must be able to obtain a lift certification and be physically able and willing to operate an areal lift and forklift (training provided by the Ringling).

Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds, climb ladders, walk significant distances and work in small spaces.

A valid Florida Driver's License or ability to obtain prior to hire.

Preferred

-Professional/Commercial painting experience.

-Mechanical skills including knowledge of electrical motors and pumps, HVAC, and/or electrical.

-Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

-Previous experience with FacilityDude.

Anticipated Salary Range

Up to $29,000 annually + Florida state benefits available.

Pay Plan

This is an USPS (University Support Personnel System) position.

Schedule

While the primary working hours for this position are Monday through Friday between 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, the incumbent may be required to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, special events, and holidays.

Criminal Background Check

This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check, to include fingerprinting. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
