Position Summary:
The Education Manager leads the Education Team in delivering education programs that are interesting, fun, and educational. They ensure that Aquarium guests, students, and teachers are inspired to explore, discover, and learn about Earth’s diverse ecosystems. The Education Manager is responsible for the creation and management of the Education Department’s programming including: on-site interpretation by Aquarium educators, daily programs offered to the general public, field trips, outreach programs, camps, and other youth, family, and community programs.
The Education Manager evaluates current education programs for impact, engagement, and results. This includes ensuring that programs achieve LLPA mission goals, comply with LLPA policy, increase guest engagement and satisfaction, stay within budget and that school programs are aligned with Utah Core Curriculum.
The Education Manager is responsible for interviewing, onboarding, training, mentoring, and evaluating the performance of Assistant Education Managers and Aquarium Educators.
The education manager works closely with the Director of Education, other LLPA Education Leadership, and all LLPA departments to further the mission of the aquarium throughout the state.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree.
1 year of experience in team management.
Management experience in entertainment/hospitality venues (zoos, aquariums, theme parks).
1 year of experience in formal or informal science (or STEM) education for K-12, with demonstrated experience in program development and evaluation.
Animal handling experience.
Preferred Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field.
Master’s degree.

Supervise, train and guide team members in the performance of daily duties, and in achieving department and organizational goals.
Oversee the creation of schedules, monitoring of hours, and preparation of payroll for the Education Team.
Provide the Education team with effective timely communication to ensure that all members understand the team’s objectives and work together to achieve them.
Ensure excellence in the Education Team’s presentation and thematic interpretation skills.
Provide support for Assistant Managers, Leads, and Educators
Evaluate the effectiveness of all education programs, presentations, camps and field trips by conducting comprehensive reviews, collecting data and identifying continuous improvement, opportunities based on best practices.
Work with the Director of Education to Initiate, develop, and oversee the creation of new educational content, programs, camps and interpretive outlines.
Collaborate with organizations outside of LLPA to create partnerships, expand program opportunities and enhance existing educational content.
Responsible for interviewing, onboarding, training, mentoring, and evaluating the performance of Assistant Education Managers and Aquarium Educators.
Conduct regular reviews, including 90-Day, annual and mid-year reviews for staff.
Provide leadership by fostering a cohesive, creative, and comfortable working environment.
Maintain a high-level of quality in staff performance through regular feedback including coaching and discipline when required.
Ensure program and project goals are met
Assist with the management of the safety and maintenance of outreach transportation fleet of vans.
Lead the outreach and field trip programs, including scheduling, planning and organizing trips to schools across Utah, processing receipts and expense reports, and field trips to LLPA.
Assist the Director of Education in creating budgets, annual strategic plans, and department goals.
Collaborate closely with other departments as assigned for project development and general operations.
Provide logistical support to all programs, camps, outreach, and field trips
Assist with seasonal and annual reports for all education department grants.
Attend professional development opportunities to improve education department capabilities.
Participate in fundraising, public relations and the promotion of the organization as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Education.
Scope of Position:
Periodic weekend, evening, and overnight work is expected and some holidays
Out of state travel may be required.

What makes this role unique?
As our first point of contact, you will manage the front lobby area and our main Ecology phone line, responding to general inquiries from the public in both English and Spanish, government agencies and staff, both in person and over the phone so you will need to be able to multi-task while maintaining a high level of professionalism. You will engage with Ecology’s ten environmental programs and make determinations on directing inquiries. You’ll be responsible for coordinating emergency personnel (i.e. fire, police and medical) that come to the building in response to an emergency, serving as the first line of security for the Central Region Office. What you will do:
Use a multi-functional telephone with five incoming lines.
Process outgoing and incoming mail.
Direct customers to appropriate staff for assistance, handling multiple forms of communication simultaneously, and providing courteous customer service.
Use agency standard computer and computer software to:
Create, maintain, and print documents.
Access information on the web page.
Communicate through electronic mail.
Access the calendar and schedule time.
Schedule conference rooms.
Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with co-workers, agency staff, private sector and other government agencies. Maintain effective working relationships.
Participate in group processes and on teams.
Provide positive, accurate and pleasant customer service to external clients.
Take accurate messages and forward messages to the appropriate personnel.
Perform clerical support duties including but not limited to creating emails, typing letters, making copies, and scheduling meetings for the Region’s Business Administrator and other staff.
Research and produce copies of well logs for customers.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications: Years of required experience indicated below are full-time equivalent years. Full-time equivalent experience means that any experience where working hours were less than 40 hours per week will be prorated in order to meet the equivalency of full-time. We would calculate this by looking at the total hours worked per week, divide this by 40, and then multiply by the total number of months worked. Examples of the proration calculations are:
30 hours worked per week for 20 months: (30/40) x 20 months = 15 months full-time equivalent
20 hours worked per week for 12 months: (20/40) x 12 months = 6 months full-time equivalent
Experience for both required and desired qualifications can be gained through various combinations of formal professional employment, education, and volunteer experience. Duties
What makes this role unique?
As our first point of contact, you will manage the front lobby area and our main Ecology phone line, responding to general inquiries from the public in both English and Spanish, government agencies and staff, both in person and over the phone so you will need to be able to multi-task while maintaining a high level of professionalism. You will engage with Ecology’s ten environmental programs and make determinations on directing inquiries. You’ll be responsible for coordinating emergency personnel (i.e. fire, police and medical) that come to the building in response to an emergency, serving as the first line of security for the Central Region Office. What you will do:
Use a multi-functional telephone with five incoming lines.
Process outgoing and incoming mail.
Direct customers to appropriate staff for assistance, handling multiple forms of communication simultaneously, and providing courteous customer service.
Use agency standard computer and computer software to:
Create, maintain, and print documents.
Access information on the web page.
Communicate through electronic mail.
Access the calendar and schedule time.
Schedule conference rooms.
Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with co-workers, agency staff, private sector and other government agencies. Maintain effective working relationships.
Participate in group processes and on teams.
Provide positive, accurate and pleasant customer service to external clients.
Take accurate messages and forward messages to the appropriate personnel.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications: Years of required experience indicated below are full-time equivalent years. Full-time equivalent experience means that any experience where working hours were less than 40 hours per week will be prorated in order to meet the equivalency of full-time. We would calculate this by looking at the total hours worked per week, divide this by 40, and then multiply by the total number of months worked. Examples of the proration calculations are:
30 hours worked per week for 20 months: (30/40) x 20 months = 15 months full-time equivalent
20 hours worked per week for 12 months: (20/40) x 12 months = 6 months full-time equivalent

The role also provides direct supervision and support to clients in care during days which the role is scheduled to meet ratio requirements.

Ensure Casa Uno and Casa Dos are appropriately stocked with supplies (including office supplies, occupancy supplies, and clothing and personal items for the clients).
Purchase program and/ client supplies as needed based on weekly inventory checks. Ensure supply storage areas remain organized and tidy.
Facilitate monthly fire drills, security checks, window alarm checks, and emergency lighting tests.
Provide educational workshops to clients and/or staff on fire safety, disaster preparedness, and other similar topics.

ABOUT CASA DE LOS AMIGOS: This program has 2 locations and 20 beds, serving clients ages 12-17, who have been placed in the program by the Office of Refugee Resettlement Department of Unaccompanied Children's Services (ORR / DUCS). All the clients are unaccompanied minors, primarily from Central America, who have recently migrated to the United States. The goal of the program is safe and timely reunification with family in the U.S.
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Case Management Supervisor, the Bilingual Case Manager is responsible for the day-to-day case management and family reunification services for youth placed in the Casa Program under the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) and in accordance with all ORR policies and procedures. Duties include all intake and exit paperwork, case planning, crisis intervention, transportation, providing or obtaining translation services, ensuring clients meet all immigration related court appointments and requirements, and assisting in the safe and timely release of each client. This position requires shift responsibilities, a high degree of flexibility in responding to emergent needs of young people in crisis, and good organizational and documentation skills.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Carry a small case load of up to 6 active clients (may be more during staffing shortages).
Provide assistance to Case Management Supervisor, Case Manager, and two mental health therapists (filing and other administrative tasks).
Provide assistance to medical coordinator for transportation to appointments and medical data-entry.
Track client entries and exits, and other client information in Excel and other applicable case management databases.
Review and close case files. Ensure quality in files and organization in file room. Coordinate and follow-up with team members for any missing documentation.
Ensure current case files have all required case management documentation and assist in filing of paperwork.
Remain up to date on ORR policy and procedures and implement case management changes within provided timeframe and as needed.
Assess assigned client’s need for services and develop and document service plans that best meet the client request while respecting both ORR and DHS regulations and as clinically appropriate.
Complete, maintain, and submit all documentation in a timely manner, including client intake and exit paperwork; assessments and service plans; child trafficking screenings and home study referrals; case notes; family reunification packet and sponsor background checks; changes of address.

Escort clients of 12 and 13 years old to their reunification destinations as needed. Potential to stay overnight at agency expense if necessary due to flight schedules.
Participate in regular staff training on updated ORR policies and procedures, program requirements, immigrant and refugee issues, as needed. Attend applicable staff meetings.
Participate in file audits of all ORR young people in care quarterly to ensure proper documentation is being completed.
Must be flexible and be able to cover the floor as needed. What you will be doing:
In this role you will use various subject guides to direct complex incoming calls and walk-in customers to the appropriate program or staff person with the agency. This includes reports of environment incidents that require documenting pertinent information and transferring to the Environmental Report Tracking System (ERTS) Coordinator for follow up. The receptionist directs visitors, conducts records management, facility management, data entry, SEPA routing, distributing and processing mail/packages.
Some of the key work activities of the Receptionist position include:
Works independently and with limited supervision at the reception desk.
Responds to general inquiries from the public and agency staff, both in person and over the phone regarding agency programs, issues and functions.
Responds to general questions from staff on how to access agency services such as conference/meeting rooms, US postage, and package deliveries.
Receives and routes telephone calls from the public and other agencies reporting an environmental incident or spill. When the Spills team and ERTS coordinator are out of the office determines if the incident requires immediate action. Contacts the appropriate program to respond to incident. Records information for the ERTS coordinator.
Coordinates emergency services by taking appropriate steps to call 911 and the Regional Business Administrator. Serves as the first line of security for the Central Regional Office.
Ensures agency security procedures are implemented.
This position is support critical and an in office environment. The schedule is Monday – Friday. Position may work a flexible [8 hours/day] schedule, between the hours of 7:30 and 5:30. Work assignments may require occasional travel, including overnight stays up to two nights per occurrence throughout the state.

Primary Responsibilities:
Supervise the students while in computer lab
Evaluate the students’ basic learning needs the first week (diagnostic on software)
Create learning goals for the students
Help children complete their daily literacy goals via software
Monitor and write students’ academic progress from software
Provide weekly updates to Site Coordinator and Site Supervisor
Prepare computer lab for the students' arrival (make sure computer is on and logged into software) and organize the computer lab at the end of the day
Group and escort students to the computer lab every 45 or 50 minutes
Take group attendance; each group uses the computer software twice a week
Ensure children are using the software properly
Follow classroom behavior guidelines
Support students in understanding the computer software

Primary Responsibilities:
Supervise the students while in computer lab
Evaluate the students’ basic learning needs the first week (diagnostic on software)
Create learning goals for the students
Help children complete their daily literacy goals via software
Monitor and write students’ academic progress from software
Provide weekly updates to Site Coordinator and Site Supervisor
Prepare computer lab for the students' arrival (make sure computer is on and logged into software) and organize the computer lab at the end of the day
Group and escort students to the computer lab every 45 or 50 minutes
Take group attendance; each group uses the computer software twice a week
Ensure children are using the software properly
Follow classroom behavior guidelines
Support students in understanding the computer software
Attend field trips and follow procedures and guidelines mandated
