Community Development has a current opening for a Lead Residental Plans Examiner in Building Safety. This position will be responsible for providing technical guidance for the Residential team. The residential team is responsible for reviewing building construction plans and materials to ensure conformance with local zoning, building fire, plumbing, and mechanical codes.
This position directly reports to the Building Plan Review Manager and the Chief Building Official. The Building Plan Review Manager makes assignments by defining objectives, priorities and deadlines and assists the incumbent with unusual situations or problems that do not have clear precedents.
The Residental lead will work alongside the Commercial lead to plan and carry out the work independently and both are expected to work together to resolve problems in accordance with instructions, policies and accepted practice.
This position is represented by Local 307CO - Washington State Council of County and City Employees.
Education and Experience:
Four (4) years of full-time work experience as a building, plumbing, or mechanical inspector or equivalent.
Must have been fully (current) certified through ICC, IAPMO, IMC or other approved organizations for the following:
Plumbing Inspector or have a Washington State Plumber Journeyman’s Certificate.

Fire Plans Examiner
Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license at the time of hire.
