Purpose:
To provide individual, family, group and/or marital therapy to children diagnosed with pediatric cancer as well as their families. This role is to provide ongoing therapy services for families with a goal of maintaining a balance between behavioral services and family-based programming designed to serve both inpatient and outpatients families.

The foundation provides all services at no cost to the families. Services are funded solely by the generous donations of its supporters.

Publicize the mission of the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer
Be an advocate for families dealing with the effects of pediatric cancer
Look for new innovative ways to provide care for families dealing with the effects of pediatric cancer
Assist development team in activities related to programs
Other duties as assigned
Job Specific Responsibilities
Provide individual, family and group mental health therapy
Conduct surveys and studies relating to psychosocial status and patterns of population groups as directed.
Assist in the assessment, planning, arranging, and implementing of psychosocial programs under clinical supervision.
Review and evaluate recent psychosocial health research and interpret it to professionals and patients.
Work in collaboration with multidisciplinary team members including external partners
Responsible for day-to-day operations of all Psycho-Oncology and Integrated therapies
Maintain thorough and accurate record keeping for all patients and progress
Maintain an appropriate environment for patients, families and visitors
Serve as community liaison on appropriate regional committees
Integrates with a team-based work environment
Provide reports in accordance with senior leadership
Assists with orientation and training of new and existing staff
Participate in writing grants
Meet all data requirements for current and future grants
Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
Knowledge of group behavior and dynamics, societal trends and influences, human migrations, ethnicity, and cultures and their history and origins.
Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions, and for career counseling and guidance.

Deschutes County is accepting applications for two Behavioral Health Specialist II - Mobile Crisis Assessment Team (MCAT) members. These positions will provide community based assessment and crisis intervention on the phone and face-to-face, in a variety of settings including medical facilities, jails, hospitals, the community, and office settings. The incumbent will provide hospital liaison/coordination and pre-commitment investigations to children, adults, and seniors. These positions are designed to provide services in conjunction with emergency first responders such as law enforcement, medical facilities, and family members for people in crisis. These are full-time positions with a unique schedule working in several 24-hour shifts(including evenings, weekends, and holidays) with multiple days off following. Successful candidates are required to live within a geographic proximity that will allow a timely response to emergency situations in multiple locations. This is defined as living in the Bend or Redmond areas and within 30 minutes of St. Charles and Redmond hospitals/medical centers. The requirement remains in effect for the duration of employment in this position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's Degree in psychology, social work, recreational therapy, music therapy, art therapy or a behavioral science field with one year of experience in the behavioral health field; OR a Bachelor's degree in nursing or occupational therapy, licensed by the State of Oregon, with three years of experience in a behavioral health field. There are registration/certification requirements under the Mental Health and Addiction Counseling Board of Oregon (MHACBO) that apply to Qualified Mental Health Professionals (QMHP) hired by Deschutes County Health Services (DCHS). This only applies to QMHPs who do not possess current licensure or are currently pursuing licensure as an LCSW, LMFT, or LPC. Requires a demonstrated ability to:

Work effectively both independently and in a team setting.
