Job Description

Elon University School of Law is currently accepting applications for a Program Coordinator for the Humanitarian Immigration Law Clinic to provide program management and administrative support. 

The Program Coordinator will be responsible for the following essential duties:
• Provide program management services, including, but not limited to; fulfilling reporting requirements for grants, contracts, and private donations awarded to HILC; tracking program outcomes and monitoring client service delivery; managing, designing and implementing office management protocol.
• Provide direct legal representation to refugees, asylees, parolees, victims of trafficking, individuals seeking asylum, and others before the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, and the Board of Immigration Appeals, in connection with federal benefits applications.

• Provide administrative support services including but not limited to scheduling client appointments, receiving and directing client calls, receiving and logging program revenues, logging program mail and identifying and recording time-sensitive mail.
• Screen, hire, train and supervise HILC student workers who are employed through work-study agreements in the clinic.

• Provide immigration case-management support assisting with the resolution of client case-specific inquiries and assisting walk-in clients with document drop-off and other client direct services.
• Liaise with embassy and USCIS staff regarding consular processing for follow-to-join cases overseas.

• Utilize and maintain hard copy and electronic filing systems for tracking the progress of client benefit applications.

• Liaise with refugee resettlement agencies, community members and others in order to promote an effective system of referral for program services.

• Attend legal immigration trainings as necessary.

• Perform other related duties as requested.

This position is through May 31, 2021 and may be extended, subject to funding availability and Provost approval.

Bachelor’s degree or four years of equivalent professional experience. Individual Accreditation by the Board of Immigration Appeals or willingness to achieve; Experience supervising other employees, student interns and/or volunteers; Ability to exercise independent judgment with respect to programmatic matters of significance; Ability to work efficiently and balance multiple responsibilities, prioritizing customer service and resolution of time-sensitive situations; Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively verbally and in writing; Ability to work independently and proactively to develop initiatives and structures to enhance program goals; Strong computer literacy with knowledge of word processing and database applications.
