Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:  

The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences at the University of Wyoming invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Family and Consumer Sciences with a Human Nutrition focus; nine-month academic year, tenure-track appointment.
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses with a clinical and/or metabolic focus in Human Nutrition and Food/Didactic Program in Nutrition and Dietetics (DPND). These courses may include: Therapeutic Nutrition, Sports Nutrition & Metabolism, and Nutrition & Weight Control. Additional teaching responsibilities may include curriculum for the WWAMI Medical Education Program and courses in the applicant’s background and expertise. The University of Wyoming’s teaching load is 2-3 with course reductions possible. In addition, the individual will be expected to establish a research program related to human nutrition; supervise Master’s and/or interdisciplinary Biomedical Science PhD students, mentor undergraduate students, assist with maintaining accreditation standards for the DPND, collaborate with other faculty to transition the DPND to a Future Graduate Model, and provide service to the department, college, university and discipline.

  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Earned doctorate in human nutrition, nutrition science, dietetics or closely related field at time of appointment
  • Potential for effective college-level teaching
  • Evidence of research track record or potential research stream

   

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Registered Dietitian (RDN)
  • Three years post-credentialing and/or professional experience
  • Dietetic-related experience in clinical and/or community setting
  • Established college-level teaching record as graduate student, instructor or above
  • Evidence of published and/or externally funded research
  • Professional involvement in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics or other professional organization
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills that facilitates an inclusive, diverse, equitable, and all-around positive environment
