The Oregon Health Authority (OHA), Public Health Division (PHD), Acute and Communicable Disease Section in Portland, OR is recruiting for four COVID-19 Epidemiologist Managers to manage the Preparedness Surveillance and Epidemiology Team (PSET), the Informatics Team and the HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) team.

What will you do?
As a COVID-19 Epidemiologist Manager, you will provide supervision to a team of epidemiologists and epidemiologist students; coordinate COVID-19 disease surveillance and outbreak response efforts with other  OPHD programs; serve as a  point person for public health COVID-19 response activities; and coordinate the development of data reporting, analysis, and quality, and submission of progress reports.

  • Minimum requirements:
    • Three years of management experience in a public or private organization which included responsibility for each of the following: a) development of program rules and policies, b) development of long- and short-range goals and plans, c) program evaluation, and d) budget preparation OR
    • Two years of management experience in a public or private organization which included responsibility for each of the following: a) development of program rules and policies, b) development of long- and short-range goals and plans, c) program evaluation, and d) budget preparation AND 45-48 quarter hours (30-32 semester hours) of graduate level coursework in management OR
    • Three years of program/project leader experience in a public or private organization which included responsibility for each of the following: a) development of program rules and policies, b) development of long- and short-range goals and plans, c) program evaluation, and d) budget preparation OR
    • Two years of program/project leader experience in a public or private organization which included responsibility for each of the following: a) development of program rules and policies, b) development of long- and short-range goals and plans, c) program evaluation, and d) budget preparation AND 45-48 quarter hours (30-32 semester hours) of graduate level coursework in management.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with preference given to applicants who have experience in epidemiology.
  • Experience managing programs, staff and resources in public health settings.
  • Experience writing grants, reports and interagency agreements.
  • Experience overseeing budgets, contracts, and financial management processes.
  • Experience performing epidemiological research.
  • Experience with communicable disease surveillance and control, which includes infection control, epidemiology and risk communication.
  • Experience determining evidence-based interventions and control measures in response to epidemiologic findings.
  • Enforcement of policies that address security, privacy, and legal considerations when communicating epidemiologic information.
  • Computer proficiency is required, specifically with databases and statistical software applications.
  • Experience promoting a culturally competent and diverse work environment
