About La Raza Community Resource Center

Founded in 1974, La Raza Community Resource Center is a bilingual, multi-service, non-profit organization dedicated to meeting the needs of low-income families and individuals. Our programs encompass social services, immigration legal services, classes, and leadership development. The majority of La Raza participants are Spanish-speaking families and individuals of all ages, living in the Mission District of San Francisco and the greater Bay Area, but we serve a diverse body of individuals from various ethnic groups in the community. Our office is located in Centro del Pueblo, a newly renovated facility that LRCRC co-owns for four other nonprofit partners. We are known for being “close to the ground” and easy to access. We are of the community, and we build community.

 

Position summary

The Executive Director will ensure that the organization is operating with a clear strategic vision, responsive community support services, a sound financial base, a highly productive staff, and effective community partnerships. The new leader will also have the political skills to develop and maintain governmental relationships that translate into sustainable funding contracts. At the core of LRCRC’s services are dedicated and highly skilled staff; LRCRC needs a leader who inspires staff and builds deep team cohesion. The position requires a mindset of compassion, perseverance and creativity.

 

Primary responsibilities

* Develop and maintain a strategic vision, with a plan and budget which mirror that vision

* Maintain a culture of high employee cohesion and satisfaction

* Ensure the delivery of quality social services, immigration legal services and community education to thousands of community members

* Promote strong external partnerships

* Diversify and expand LRCRC’s funding base

* Oversee the agency’s finances, with an eye to fiscal stability and a sufficient cash reserve

* Maintain sound management and administrative systems

* Oversee LRCRC’s government contracts

* Communicate consistently with staff to promote shared vision, inclusiveness and ownership

* Partner with LRCRC’s board of directors to set a shared organizational vision, monitor organizational progress, and identify emerging trends for potential action

* Participate in the management of the Centro del Pueblo building

* Serve as the public face and spokesperson of LRCRC, in alignment with the agency’s mission

 

Qualifications

* Five years of senior management experience in a human services nonprofit or comparable government agency

* Skill in overseeing multiple programs and services funded through complex contracts

* Knowledge of sound business, management and administrative practices

* Knowledge of effective HR practices

* Experience in working with diverse communities, particularly Latino immigrant communities

* Fluency in Spanish

* Ability to create and articulate a bold organizational vision, while building government and community support for that vision

* Experience in relationship building and fundraising with government entities, private foundations and individual donors

* Excellent writing and communication skills

* Knowledge of government contracts, including application, negotiation and compliance

* Experience building community relationships and coalitions, and managing collaborative projects

* Bachelor’s degree (experience considered in lieu of degree); advanced degree in nonprofit management and administration is a plus

* Ability to manage change; build positive and productive work relationships; manage difficult and complex decisions through creative, analytical thinking; value the importance of diversity, inclusion and equity; and maintain a disposition of openness, flexibility and humor

 

Compensation

$95,000 to $110,000 per year, with full medical and dental benefits
