Senior Research Scientist (#1705491)

PeopleTec, Inc. is seeking a Senior Research Scientist to support our Huntsville, AL operations.

Our Senior Research Scientist will plan, perform, lead, and document multi-disciplined research supporting the development of materials, structures, lethal mechanisms, and models and simulations supporting the design and analysis of weapons systems. Primary duties include performing multi-disciplined research and development of modeling approaches and algorithms predictive of material response in to heating / thermal stimulus and high speed acceleration, impact, penetration, and damage events. This research and development requires a detailed knowledge of state-of-the-art fast-running and computational approaches predictive of material response. Additionally, a thorough knowledge of testing techniques appropriate to phenomenological through complex system performance and effectiveness events is required. The Senior Research Scientist will direct team members in the disciplines, models, and tools required for each tasked project. The Senior Research Scientist will be expected to publish results, as appropriate, in industry-leading publications and refereed conferences. Efforts will be performed at our corporate office with extensive interaction with combined Government and contractor teams.

The candidate will support and participate in program reviews, briefings, workshops and working groups. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.

Required Skills:

• At least 20 years of demonstrated experience performing research and development in weapon system design, analysis, and performance assessment
• Software development experience in multiple languages
• Computational modeling training and experience
• Extensive and demonstrated publications in multiple venues
• Demonstrated experience leading teams of varying disciplines and skill levels
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• An active DoD Secret clearance is required to perform this work. Candidates are required to have an active Secret clearance upon hire, and the ability to maintain this level of clearance during their employment.

• Three dimensional coordinate transformation and visualization function experience

Education and/or Certifications:

A Master's Degree or PhD in Engineering (mechanical or aerospace), Computer Science, Mathematics or Physics from an accredited university is required.
