Sr. Systems/Network Admin - Linux, High Performance Computing

The Data Center Administration team at Hewlett Packard Enterprise is hiring a hands on Senior System/Network Admin who will be accountable to provide system architecture, design as well as administration support for hardware, network, storage, and software.  This will support HPE’s High Performance Computing & AI Performance Engineering teams to produce products and support HPE sales bids.  In this high level individual contributor role, you will lead and provide expertise to project teams and may participate in projects involving 3rd party independent software vendors and partners. As a leader in HPE’s lab, you will help provide direction to lab employees, prioritize requests, guide process improvements, and establish lab use policies.  Our lab team has access to the newest technology, so a desire to be on the cutting edge is required.

This position is located full time in our Houston, TX office.  We are currently in the Cypress area of Houston, but we will be moving to the Woodlands within the next year.

Primary Responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement customized hardware, networks and systems to support internal and external HPE clients

• Provide planning and resource deployment for product and customer access.

• Image and upgrade servers with Linux OS, update firmware, and configure switches to work within our labs.

• Deliver guidance and assistance for hardware and software installation and configuration.

• Participate in design of a lab, network, and policies that meet the functional requirements and follow cybersecurity standards for protection of assets.

• Oversee upcoming lab move to new facilities.

• Utilize strong presentation and communication skills to influence team members and business partners on ideal systems and network design.

Experience and Skills

• Extensive experience with Linux is required

• Background in systems, network and or/storage administration/architecture

• Understanding of a high performing lab environment is highly desired

• Comfort in learning and leading new technology initiatives

• Proven track record of presenting to senior management and business partners
