Shift: Mon- Fri 10am to 6:30 pm 

Summary:

The incumbent is responsible for performing serological, molecular, and immunological testing of patients, donors, and contract samples.  Participates in the educational and developmental activities of the laboratory.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs serological, molecular, and immunological procedures in the HLA laboratory that include, but are not limited to, DNA  extraction, PCR amplification, NGS (Next Generation Sequencing), Sanger sequence-based typing, probe hybridization/detection, cross-matching, antibody screens, and other procedures as defined.

  • Performs quality control functions and daily equipment maintenance.

  • Maintains neat and accurate records and a clean and orderly work area.

  • Performs tasks related to ongoing evaluations and projects as requested.

  • Orders and prepares reagents; performs reagent quality control.

  • Participates and/or assists in laboratory education and training.  Attends continuing education programs.

  • Ensures that customer satisfaction is always given top priority.

  • Complies with state and federal regulations, directives, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and one (1) year of previous HLA experience or molecular genetics laboratory experience, preferably including DNA extractions, PCR amplification, probe hybridization/detection, or DNA sequencing. The 1-year experience can be included from university lab wor

  • Or Bachelor’s degree and certification as Molecular Diagnostic Specialist from the National Accreditation Agency (NCA) certification.
