Job Description
The Assistant Director performs administrative responsibilities, assisting the senior director and staff to ensure the smooth operation of the Center for Global Engagement. Specific tasks include:
Coordinate and review all off-campus study applications (including program specific applications), respond to inquiries regarding the application process.
Participate in the Off-Campus Study Fair and required off-campus study orientations.
Manage all off-campus study scholarship applications in consultation with the senior director.
Along with other staff members, participate in the planning and assisting of student events such as the annual IMAGES: A Reflection of Cultures show, International Food Fair, Explore Michigan, and international student celebrations.
Coordinate with Center for Information & Technology (CIT) to assist in the set up, maintenance and use of the Terra Dotta system, including managing program updates
Support website maintenance and social media platforms as needed.
Participate in occasional site visits and national conferences.
Support international student activities as needed
Serve on campus committees as necessary and represent the senior director when needed.
Lead and coordinate print materials including communicating with printing companies.
Manage Day of Giving and Admission Visit Days on behalf of the Center.
Assist in budget reviews, departmental assessment goals, and vision setting for the Center for Global Engagement.
Coordinate Global Champion communication and training.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required
At least 5 years of work experience in the field of international education
Cross-cultural experience and fluency in a second language preferred
Ability to work with individuals whose primary language may not be English
Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with students
Effective organizational and time management skills
Ability to maintain multiple ongoing tasks on a tight deadline, and to maintain collegiality and productivity under pressure
Technical skills in database management, Google Suites and Canva preferred
Previous experience with Terra Dotta Systems preferred
Able to maintain confidentiality
Self-motivated and detail oriented
Strong written and oral communication skills

About Us and Our Philosophy
Breakthrough Greater Boston (BTGB) is a transformative college access and teacher training program. BTGB offers six years of academic enrichment and college preparation to middle school and high school students with high potential but limited opportunities. Simultaneously, BTGB recruits, trains and inspires a diverse cohort of high achieving college students to become the next generation of urban teachers. Leveraging a Students Teaching Students model, BTGB provides engaging, tuition-free academic programming during the summer and after school. Breakthrough Greater Boston is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented Senior Director of Student Services (SDSS) to oversee all aspects of student support and family engagement for our middle school summer and school-year programs at one of our three campuses as well as provide leadership and support across our three campuses for our Student Services team. The SDSS will be responsible for leading the annual student recruitment and admissions process; overseeing SEL programming; and managing school and community partnerships. POSITION OUTCOMES
A successful Senior Director of Student Services will work in close alignment with the Managing Director of Student Services to:
Lead within the department in areas that include but are not limited to: short and long term departmental planning, partnership development, special initiatives, staff support and coverage, data/reporting.
Plan and lead safe and engaging programming during the summer and school year for middle school students and Teaching Fellows
Manage recruitment and admissions efforts across Breakthrough’s partner schools to enroll a cohort of 45-50 students annually
Oversee family engagement initiatives including maintaining frequent positive communication and facilitating fall and spring family check-ins for all 7 th and 8 th grade families
Maintain accurate, up-to-date student records to inform appropriate social emotional support services and/or academic interventions
Collaborate with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction to plan and implement high quality school year and summer programming
Work closely with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction to ensure all middle school students are well supported in their academic and social emotional learning
Establish and maintain strong collaborative relationships with partners that advance the work of your department including partner schools, universities, community based organizations and local companies

Oversee student admissions, selecting the most qualified students from a pool of applicants from 6 th grade classes across our partner schools
Student Support
Support students’ social emotional health and well-being, including supervising BTGB’s school-year and summer counselors
Manage Student Advising Program to ensure that all students are connected to a BTGB advisor and receiving consistent advocacy touchpoints
Oversee the creation and implementation of Tier I, Tier II and Tier III interventions to support students, including daily mindfulness practice (Tier I), restorative circles (Tier II) and SEL Skill Building groups (Tier III)

BTGB offers six years of academic enrichment and college preparation to middle school and high school students with high potential but limited opportunities. The role of the Senior Higher Ed Impact Manager will be to: ● Increase the capacity of and improve the performance of higher-ed leaders and professionals, institutions, and systems that ultimately work to enhance the higher-ed sector. ● Help organizations develop strong technical and adaptive leadership skills to improve the lives of student parents. ● Indirectly support and advocate for the postsecondary success of millions of student parents across the country.
The Senior Higher Ed Impact Manager will support the Director of Learning & Advocacy in implementing and carrying out Generation Hope’s technical assistance program to strengthen the capacity of colleges, universities, education professionals, and higher ed organizations to better serve student parents. The Senior Higher Ed Impact Coach will contribute to framework and module design and facilitation of convenings and workshops and will lead coaching and implementation support for several clients. The Senior Higher Ed Impact Coach must be a dynamic communicator, skilled coach, and energizing leader who is able to bring people together to advance the important work of our National Impact Program.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Training Design and Facilitation ● In collaboration with the Director of Learning and Advocacy, create and utilize equitable curriculum design and facilitation principles to support the execution of the technical assistance program to achieve intended outcomes. ● Co-design and facilitate highly engaging and thought-provoking virtual and in-person information sessions, orientations, workshops and trainings, as needed, to accomplish our technical assistance goals and provide follow up technical assistance as needed. ● Assist with the preparation of all instructional materials including presentations, handouts, visuals, etc. for each learning session and/or event. ● Deliver targeted technical assistance/coaching to a portfolio of two to four higher-ed institutions at a time and possible short-term consulting to other clients. ● Help to ensure coherence and meaning across the curriculum. ● Revise existing curricula, needs assessments, and evaluation activities, and work collaboratively with all staff and partners to maintain and enhance quality and profile of technical assistance products. ● Assist with gathering, analyzing, and interpreting qualitative and quantitative data in order to support cohort members and clients in making progress on their work plans. ● Maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation of technical assistance work and ensure all reporting requirements are met.
Community and Client Engagement

The Senior Higher Ed Impact Manager will support the Director of Learning & Advocacy in implementing and carrying out Generation Hope’s technical assistance program to strengthen the capacity of colleges, universities, education professionals, and higher ed organizations to better serve student parents. The Senior Higher Ed Impact Coach will contribute to framework and module design and facilitation of convenings and workshops and will lead coaching and implementation support for several clients. The Senior Higher Ed Impact Coach must be a dynamic communicator, skilled coach, and energizing leader who is able to bring people together to advance the important work of our National Impact Program.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Training Design and Facilitation ● In collaboration with the Director of Learning and Advocacy, create and utilize equitable curriculum design and facilitation principles to support the execution of the technical assistance program to achieve intended outcomes. ● Co-design and facilitate highly engaging and thought-provoking virtual and in-person information sessions, orientations, workshops and trainings, as needed, to accomplish our technical assistance goals and provide follow up technical assistance as needed. ● Assist with the preparation of all instructional materials including presentations, handouts, visuals, etc. for each learning session and/or event. ● Deliver targeted technical assistance/coaching to a portfolio of two to four higher-ed institutions at a time and possible short-term consulting to other clients. ● Help to ensure coherence and meaning across the curriculum. ● Revise existing curricula, needs assessments, and evaluation activities, and work collaboratively with all staff and partners to maintain and enhance quality and profile of technical assistance products. ● Assist with gathering, analyzing, and interpreting qualitative and quantitative data in order to support cohort members and clients in making progress on their work plans. ● Maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation of technical assistance work and ensure all reporting requirements are met.
Community and Client Engagement
● Serve as one of the “faces” of Generation Hope, facilitating learning experiences during sessions that give leaders context to their learning, increase coherency of the overall program, and reinforce critical messages. ● Establish relationships with prospective clients, funders, and potential partners. ● Develop new business relationships to secure technical assistance clients by participating in networking opportunities, scheduling and participating in business development calls and meetings, etc. ● Deliver excellent customer service to current and prospective clients and continuously look for opportunities to improve our service delivery. ● Conduct pre and post-evaluations and needs assessment for each partner (i.e., work plan) and ongoing support for their implementation plans. ● Provide the communications team with information to support the creation of technical assistance impact stories and other program information as requested.

OVERVIEW OF ROLE
STRIVE Preparatory Schools (STRIVE Prep) is a Denver-based community of public charter schools that challenges every student to strive for college and thrive throughout life by helping them develop the knowledge, skills and confidence necessary to succeed in college and beyond. STRIVE Prep uses Pathways to Calculus for High School Math curriculum. The Central Math Coach will work with members of the centrally-based Academic Team, High School teachers, and campus administrators to ensure that we implement the curriculum with a high level of integrity and fidelity and that we utilize the strong resources provided to meet the needs of every STRIVE Prep student. Upon evaluation of materials, determine what, if any areas may need to be completely revamped in order to more closely align with relevant, social justice-based themes to create meaningful Math learning in our classrooms.
Support a variety of teachers along their journey to execute critical pedagogy in their Math materials and daily lessons by providing direct coaching to teachers at our SMART and RISE campuses.
Provide direct on-going support to instructional coaches to build their capacity in coaching excellent implementation of the Math curriculum.
Regularly share best practices and curricular resources with teachers.
Develop, plan, and lead high-quality professional development for teachers and instructional coaches to build capacity in teaching reading and writing well.

In collaboration with the Central Director of College Access and on-campus representatives at SMART and RISE , develop and implement a clear vision for the implementation of College and Career Ready courses in High School Math as well as support the creation of resources to support these courses.
Support the clear implementation and artifact collection to meet ICAP requirements for juniors and seniors to graduate from STRIVE Prep schools.
Curriculum Development and Resources:
Oversee all High School Math courses to ensure coherence and alignment. (i.e. consistency of resources, direct coaching support of both teachers and coaches)
Work directly with Course Leads (teacher leaders) to support development and continuous refinement of high-quality, core curricular resources aligned to our common network curriculum.
Regularly analyze student performance data to drive curricular refinement and prioritization.
Work with instructional coaches to ensure clear understanding of curricular choices, themes, and priorities.
Work with teachers to regularly share best practices, including strong lesson plans, reteach plans, and reassessments.
Collaborative Learning:
Support teacher leaders in leveraging collaborative learning time to increase teacher capacity around standards, instruction, planning, data analysis, etc. in their content area by providing suggested agendas, data analysis protocols, and guidance on unpacking standards or assessment items.
Support the development of and facilitate collaboration in reviewing student work and creating action plans to address gaps in instruction.
Develop and lead content-specific Professional Development (PD) modules and opportunities to be used during collaborative learning time.
Develop and lead network summer training sessions in Math curriculum implementation with specificity towards empowering teachers to actualize critical pedagogy practices in their classrooms.
Lead with equity literacy - the knowledge and skills that enable us to recognize, respond to, and redress conditions that deny some students access to educational and other opportunities enjoyed by their peers.
Lead with cultural competence - the knowledge, behaviors, and dispositions necessary to effectively interact with people across cultures.

OVERVIEW OF ROLE
STRIVE Preparatory Schools (STRIVE Prep) is a Denver-based community of public charter schools that challenges every student to strive for college and thrive throughout life by helping them develop the knowledge, skills and confidence necessary to succeed in college and beyond. STRIVE Prep uses Pathways to Calculus for High School Math curriculum. The Central Math Coach will work with members of the centrally-based Academic Team, High School teachers, and campus administrators to ensure that we implement the curriculum with a high level of integrity and fidelity and that we utilize the strong resources provided to meet the needs of every STRIVE Prep student. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for forging strong relationships with teachers and leaders while also holding high standards for curriculum and instruction at STRIVE Prep. In addition, all candidates must have a strong content knowledge in Math, an in-depth understanding of Common Core standards, as well as a high capacity for problem-solving, logistics, building investment, and coordinating details in a fast-paced environment within a position that directly supports both of our STRIVE Prep High Schools.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
With the must haves driving your daily approach to the work, the successful Central Math Coach will perform the essential functions of the role for STRIVE Prep’s two High Schools.
Vision and Capacity-Building:
In collaboration with the The Director of STEM develop a clear vision of excellence in High School Math and continually refine and improve our approach to Math instruction.
Support strong implementation of our common, externally-sourced network curriculum across two High School campuses.
Evaluate our current curriculum and determine areas for infusing social justice-based thematic programming within the context of the current curriculum
Upon evaluation of materials, determine what, if any areas may need to be completely revamped in order to more closely align with relevant, social justice-based themes to create meaningful Math learning in our classrooms.
Support a variety of teachers along their journey to execute critical pedagogy in their Math materials and daily lessons by providing direct coaching to teachers at our SMART and RISE campuses.
Provide direct on-going support to instructional coaches to build their capacity in coaching excellent implementation of the Math curriculum.
Regularly share best practices and curricular resources with teachers.
Develop, plan, and lead high-quality professional development for teachers and instructional coaches to build capacity in teaching reading and writing well.
Work with the Director of English Language Services to ensure that STRIVE Prep’s Math programming includes best practices for supporting English Language Learners, and with the Director of Students Services to ensure the needs of students receiving Special Education services are being met.
