Job Description

Eastern Florida State College is currently seeking applications for the part-time position of Lab Equipment Maintenance Assistant on the Palm Bay Campus in Palm Bay, Florida.

 The Lab Equipment Maintenance Assistant is an integral position at the Fire Training Center.  Students and faculty rely on timely coordination of equipment, props and vehicles for the safe operation of training conducted on a daily basis.  The Assistant provides direct support to the Program.

 The following minimum qualifications for this position must be met before any applicant will be considered:

  •  High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Career or volunteer firefighting certificate or equivalent.
  • Knowledge, skills and abilities working with hand and power tools.
  • Active or retired firefighter preferred.
  • Must have a Valid Florida Driver’s License.
  • This position will require successful fingerprinting and the candidate chosen will be required to pay the associated fee (currently $37.25). This fingerprinting fee ($37.25) is non-refundable.

  • Official transcripts of all collegiate work will be required to be considered beyond the application phase. *

 *High School Diploma or GED or transcripts or official transcripts of all collegiate work (as appropriate for the position) must be sent directly from the attended institution to the Human Resources Office prior to the first day of employment.  All foreign degrees must have a course-by-course official evaluation and translation sent to the Human Resources Office directly from an evaluation company affiliated with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc.

 Minimum physical qualifications:

  •  Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Pump Operator certificate or working knowledge to operate a fire truck.

The hourly salary is $14.00 per hour.  This position has been approved for up to 28 hours per week.  This position is eligible for regular part-time benefits (i.e. vacation, life insurance, etc.).
