Job Description

 Eastern Florida State College is currently seeking applications for the full-time position of Assistant Athletic Trainer on the Melbourne Campus in Melbourne, Florida. 

Provide athletic treatment, care, prevention and rehabilitation to athletes under the direction of the Head Athletic Trainer and Associate Vice President of Athletics.

The following minimum qualifications for this position must be met before any applicant will be considered:

  •  Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in athletic training or sports medicine.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Word & Excel, Outlook and Windows-Based Software.
  • Prefer minimum 2 years’ experience as an Athletic Trainer on the collegiate level.
  • Must possess NATA Board certification that is current. Must be eligible for Florida State Licensure. 
  • Must possess First Aid and CPR and AED for the professional rescuer certification that is current.
  • Valid Florida Motor Vehicle Operator’s license required.
  • This position will require successful fingerprinting and drug screening. The candidate chosen will be required to pay the associated fees (currently $37.25/$58.20).  These fingerprinting and drug screening fees ($37.25/$58.20) are non-refundable.

  • Official transcripts of all collegiate work will be required to be considered beyond the application phase.*

 *High school diploma or GED or transcripts or official transcripts of all collegiate work (as appropriate for the position) must be sent directly from the attended institution to the Human Resources Office prior to the first day of employment.  All foreign degrees must have a course-by-course official evaluation and translation sent to the Human Resources Office directly from an evaluation company affiliated with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc.

 Minimum physical qualifications:

  •  Professional demeanor and public relations skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities. Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, push, pull and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to access, input and retrieve information and/or data from a computer.
  • Ability to work from office and training room to outside in various extreme weather conditions as required of athletic events.

The salary is competitive and will consider relevant credentials and experience.  Successful internal candidates for external job postings should be aware that their current salary does not transfer to the new position.
