RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The role of the Empresas Small Business Development Program Manager is to be a creative, hands-on, entrepreneurial collaborator in our Microenterprise Program. We are looking for an individual who is enthusiastic about entrepreneurship and economic development. The Manager will lead a team of three business development specialists in providing coaching and technical assistance to aspiring and existing Latinx micro-entrepreneurs in Washington County, Oregon. In addition, they will deliver high-quality, culturally responsive services, and utilize curricula and materials that are culturally and developmentally appropriate.  This role reports to the Director of Microenterprise Programs.  

Small Business Development 

  • Oversee all aspects of the development, implementation and strategic growth of the Empresas Small Business Development Program.  
  • Supervise and provide guidance to Empresas Program staff. 
  • Ensure the successful management of the food and retail business incubator programs. 
  • Collaborate with local, regional, and state business community networks to promote and foster Latinx micro-business development. 
  • Lead and facilitate Empresas’s 11-week small business courses and monthly specialty workshops.  
  • Oversee the recruitment and enrollment of program participants.  
  • Provide one on one business coaching and technical assistance to Empresas program graduates. 
  • Work in collaboration with the Adelante Mujeres’ Farmers Market, Regenerative Agriculture, and Health Equity programs to ensure participant and community support integration. 

Program Management 

  • Lead marketing and outreach efforts to include preparation of editorial content, promotional material, social media, and other communication platforms. 
  • Develop partnerships and manage contracts/ grants with partner entities such as the cities of Beaverton, Hillsboro, Tigard, and other stakeholders. 
  • Manage, track, and report on related grant projects. 
  • Participate as a member of the Microenterprise Team. 
  • Develop and maintain competency in Adelante’s mission, work, and needs through regular exposure to Adelante’s activities, clients, and staff. 
  • Support our organization’s development and fundraising efforts. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be fully bilingual in English and Spanish- strong written and oral skills; culturally proficient. 
  • An undergraduate degree or comparable experience in business administration, entrepreneurship, economic development, marketing, or related field.  
  • 4 years of experience in program management. 
  • 2 years of experience facilitating training to adult learners.  
  • 2 years of experience in supervising employees and volunteers.  
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and online technology platforms such as MS TEAMS, MS SharePoint, Zoom, Facebook, Canva, and Google Hangouts 
  • Knowledge of marketing principles including social media and material design. 
  • Knowledge of basic bookkeeping principles. 
  • Proven ability to develop effective and collaborative relationships with participants and stakeholders. 
  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours; ability to travel to off-site venues for meetings, events, and professional development. 
  • Passionate about entrepreneurship, education, social justice, diversity, and women’s empowerment. 
  • Demonstrated experience working with and motivating Latinx families. 
  • A passionate commitment to the goals and mission of Adelante Mujeres and support for immigrant and BIPOC communities 

Additional Requirements:

  • Possess current driver’s license and auto insurance coverage 

SALARY & BENEFITS: 

  • Salary range: $50K - $56K depending on qualifications 
  • Classification Full-time, working 40+ hours per week, exempt  
  • Telework: primarily during pandemic, up to 2 days a week after pandemic 
  • Benefits: health, vision, dental, short-term and long-term disability, 401K pension plan, life insurance, professional development opportunities, paid leave of absence, paid holidays (12.5 days annually), sick days (up to 12 days annually) and vacation per year (20 days years one through five, 25 days after five years)
