Job Description:

The American Red Cross requires all new hires be vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment. Job Summary:

Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Development Operations Manager supervises all operational aspects of fundraising and donor services in the region. The Development Operations Manager is responsible for managing and optimizing organizational development processes to increase funding revenue. This includes supervision of Development Operations Specialist and volunteers who handle development operations responsibilities. Oversees fundraising budget monitoring, daily gift processing and transactions; monitoring of department expense budget; donor data quality, donor acknowledgement and stewardship program. Establishes work procedures and standards to improve efficiency and effectiveness of assigned operations. Lead trainer for development applications and software.


Fundraising Operations

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of assigned business unit and supervision of Development Specialist and department volunteers. Provides direction to professional-level staff. Has a direct impact on department goals and planning.
  • Collaborates with department leaders to ensure that fundraising programs are executed.
  • Acts as departments point of contact with volunteer services
  • Lead on revenue planning activities to ensure regional fundraising team have strong, reasonable portfolios and targets and access to key data for decision-making
  • Manage systems for development operations and oversee organizational gift processing and gift management procedures 

Data Analytics and Systems Development

  • Manage the collection, compilation, and analysis of fundraising program information.
  • Prepare and analyze data for results and forecasting of revenue to create transparency and digestible data to support decision-making
  • Improve data auditing and processes for pipeline management to ensure accurate data for forecasting and planning
  • Oversee systems for prospecting, research, and pipeline development.
  • Improve analytical reporting on donor data and develop more simplified, self-service reporting
  • Create a plan for data quality and execute regular data integrity checks, ensure consistency and integrity of data

Internal Support + Training

  • Fulfill reporting and analytics requests
  • Maintain regional reports and dashboards in the Salesforce CRM
  • Prepare mail lists
  • Develop, recommend, and implement policies and procedures to increase the effectiveness of the fundraising program.
  • Design and deliver staff trainings on revenue management processes, as well as development applications such as Salesforce and Power BI fundamentals and database expectations, policies, and procedures


Education: 4-year college degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Marketing, Sales, Business, or related field.

Experience: Minimum 7 to 10 years required

Management Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years of staff management required
Essential Functions/Physical Requirements: Depending on work assignment, may require ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; or the ability to stand, walk and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of up to 20 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read technical information. Overall mobility is essential. May include sitting for long periods of time, driving a vehicle, and working under challenging conditions.

Work Conditions: Work is performed indoors with some potential for exposure to safety and health hazards related to emergency services relief work. May travel and participate in meetings and conferences throughout chapter jurisdiction, state, and Red Cross system. Because the Red Cross is a disaster response organization, staff may be asked to be on 24-hour call during period of major disaster.
