Job Description

Job Purpose: Assists with all facets of event management/game operations.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Assists with the event management for all 17 sports and has direct oversight of game operations for Soccer, Swimming and Diving, Tennis, Track & Field and Volleyball. Duties include, but are not limited to, coordinating security/event staffing (Landmark staffing and police staffing), coordinating medical personnel, developing game day operations manuals for each sport, organizing game operations meetings, communicating with facilities staff to ensure the facility is setup per NCAA standards, working with coaching staff’s on game-day needs, communicating with officials and visiting team, etc.
  • Assists with oversight of game day operations for Football, Men’s & Women’s Basketball and Wrestling including, but not limited to, securing groups to clean the facility following each event, managing ADA golf cart drivers for ramps during football games and supervising the table crew for men’s and women’s basketball games.
  • Manages payment process for all game/sport officials by utilizing conference databases (e.g., Arbiter, Blue Zebra, etc.) and interacts with UW Accounts payable to generate purchase orders to create checks (payment) for each official on game day. In addition, communicates with the applicable conference office and supervisor of officials as necessary.
  • Process game and match contracts for all home competitions.
  • Assists with oversight of facility operations including communicating with facilities staff on needs relating to event management.
  • Coordinates scheduling of Athletic Department facilities including processing Facility Use Agreements for outside rentals.
  • Assists with coordination of special events such as the WHSAA State Championships, University Commencement, Special Olympic, etc.
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of and adheres to all applicable University, conference and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Assists with other duties/projects as assigned/directed.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree.
    • 2 years’ experience in collegiate event or game management (more experience preferred)
    • Valid Driver's License with a motor vehicle record that is compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy Found at: http://www.uwyo.edu/auxserv/fleet/Official-Vehicle-Policy/OVP.pdf required.
    • Ability to work nights, weekends, and some holidays.

 

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated knowledge or ability to learn Mountain West and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Event planning experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to make independent, sound decisions
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and computer skills.
  • Demonstrated communication skills.
  • Supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with a variety of diverse individuals, groups and organizations.
