Technologist I needed for busy CLIA-licensed, AABB-accredited molecular testing laboratory responsible for patient and blood donor high complexity molecular testing. The lab performs both FDA approved and lab-developed tests.
Responsible for the performance, organization, and coordination of select functions of the molecular testing laboratory and assures the smooth daily cGMP operation of the laboratory. Performs PCR, AS-PCR, PCR-RFLP typing and other DNA-based typing techniques. Analyzes results and assigns molecular allele codes. Develops and implements new procedures and is familiar with the various computer software related to data analysis. Responsible for aiding in the training of new lab personnel. Actively interacts with other blood services departments on matters concerning these areas of responsibility. Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with standard operating procedures, Safety Quality Identity Potency Purity (SQIPP), regulations outlined in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Clinical Laboratory Information Act (CLIA), and other applicable Federal, state and local regulations.
Shift: 1st shift 9:00 am - 5:30 pm
Perform duties associated with receipt of donor and patent specimens.
Perform extraction of genomic DNA from peripheral blood or buccal swab samples by both manual and automated methods.
Perform spectrophotometry for DNA quality assessment.
Perform genotyping procedures, including PCR amplification for gel-based, array-based, and mass spectrometry-based genotyping by commercial and lab-developed tests.
Review and interpret results and prepare reports written and electronic.
Perform daily equipment maintenance checks and routine equipment maintenance.
Perform reagent qualification.
Assist with reagent and supply inventory management
Bachelor’s degree in biology or related field.
Minimum of 1 years of molecular testing experience.
Ability to work on a team. Knowledge of molecular genetics and operation of equipment used in the laboratory, PCs and
applicable software programs.
Problem solving skills. Communication skills, both written and oral. Ability to interact with coworkers effectively
