The Clark County Geographic Information Services (GIS) division has a current opening for a GIS Technician. The position may be filled at the GIS Technician II or GIS Technician III level, depending on the qualifications and experience level of the candidate selected. The GIS Technician is responsible for the production and maintenance of Clark County’s GIS data, map products, and web mapping applications. The successful candidate will also be responsible for responding to internal and external customer inquiries for GIS products, services, or technical support. Responsibilities:
Coordinates, directs and participates in engineering areas such as water and wastewater system design, environmental impacts, hydraulics, hydrology, development plan review and similar areas; coordinates work of consulting engineers, County departments and governmental agencies affected by, or assigned to, the designated project.
Reviews and revises complex construction plans for water and sanitary sewer projects for compliance with standards, codes and ordinances and adherence to acceptable engineering principles.
Develops and implements ordinances, regulations and standards to ensure sewer and water service and systems are operated in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations; prepares permit applications and supporting documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Provides technical response to citizen inquiries concerning specific projects to properly inform them as well as incorporate their input.
Develops and implements computer applications for modeling of water and wastewater systems.

Responsibilities:
Coordinates, directs and participates in engineering areas such as water and wastewater system design, environmental impacts, hydraulics, hydrology, development plan review and similar areas; coordinates work of consulting engineers, County departments and governmental agencies affected by, or assigned to, the designated project.
Reviews and revises complex construction plans for water and sanitary sewer projects for compliance with standards, codes and ordinances and adherence to acceptable engineering principles.
Develops and implements ordinances, regulations and standards to ensure sewer and water service and systems are operated in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations; prepares permit applications and supporting documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Provides technical response to citizen inquiries concerning specific projects to properly inform them as well as incorporate their input.
Develops and implements computer applications for modeling of water and wastewater systems.
Provides support to operations functions including assistance with operations and maintenance issues, asset management and event support for unplanned occurrences.
Engineer IV will provide supervision and review of assigned staff. Performs complex engineer work that will entail a considerable amount of independent actions or decisions which demand application of advanced or specialized principles of engineering disciplines and problem solving skills.
Requirements:
Must possess, or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire, a valid Virginia driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record based on James City County’s criteria.
Knowledge of the principles, practices and methods of civil engineering as applied to planning, location, design, construction, inspection and maintenance of water and wastewater systems and related projects; principles and processes for providing customer service including setting and meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

The Desktop Administration Public Works Project role will provide sophisticated technical support for our Public Works customers throughout the County. That includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all associated equipment. Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field OR a minimum three years of experience working as a desktop admin. The degree must have been conferred by an institution of higher education and have National Recognition of Accrediting Agencies by the U.S. Secretary of Education, and official transcripts may be required at the time of hire.
Knowledge of current principles in PC environments and information technology systems to include: Windows 10 O/S; Windows networking principles; Active Directory, DNS, DHCP; Group Policy management; command line execution; internal and external storage devices; productivity software application suites; Jabber, Office 365 Product Suite, MS Teams, Outlook, Visio, Project; desktop and file management principles; trouble shooting techniques; ticketing systems; asset and inventory management systems; imaging/provisioning systems; various computing devices including desktops, laptops, tablets, handhelds/mobiles; and endpoint management systems.

This position will be responsible for the following areas:

Responsible for performing paraprofessional and technical work providing assistance conducting inspections and providing fire prevention education and fire safety awareness for the Life Safety Division of the City’s Fire Department. Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Three (3) years of progressively responsible general office work, with a minimum of one (1) year of experience directly related to working as a court assistant.
- or -
Two (2) years (ninety [90] hours) of post-secondary business, legal or office occupational training or education may be substituted for up to two years of required experience.
-and-
Must possess the ability to type at a speed of 55+ words per minute.
Knowledge of: case processing activity within the Court systems; procedures, documents and procedural law related to the conduct of legal practice in the Court Systems; legal and business correspondence, Court orders and jury activities; business English, grammar, punctuation, spelling and diction; office practices and procedures and modern office equipment; basic bookkeeping practices.
Ability to: operate commonly used office equipment and machines, , computers , scanners, copiers, calculators and; work effectively in a high pressure environment; understand and render clear explanations of legal procedures and policies; understand and execute complex written and oral instructions; apply extensive guidelines to a variety of work situations; maintain or supervise the keeping of records; exercise tact and judgment when providing assistance; compose legal correspondence; compile periodic reports; establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and general public and employees of other departments and agencies.
