Pay: $15.00 - $21.00 per hour/with growth opportunities

We are a community based Independent, Parenting and Supportive Living agency providing services to individuals with Intellectual disabilities. We work in an energetic atmosphere that embraces teamwork. Straight Path SLS/ILS LLC. has an inclusion focused, community strong, modern philosophy which our instructors must also embrace. Our instructors serve as community liaisons and role models, demonstrating respectful interaction with the individuals participating in our program so they are treated with dignity by the community.

We are currently searching for outgoing, compassionate and dedicated individuals to become part of our diverse team. You will empower our participants to enhance their parenting, supportive living skills and independent living skills by training and supporting them with money management, comparative shopping, medical appointments, educational assistance, community access, self advocacy, personal health, behavior management and household management. This is a challenging role. This position requires good judgment, excellent written and verbal communication, and quick problem-solving skills. Instructors should be energetic, outgoing, and compassionate individuals. Instructor should be natural-born leaders and thoughtful communicators. Instructors must be extremely organized, responsible, and able to manage a fluctuating schedule.

The successful candidate must have the ability to develop a rapport and trust with our program participants and have a genuine desire to serve our unique community. Previous experience in human services field is a plus. Must be at least 18 years old, have a car, a valid CA driver's license, auto registration and auto insurance. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Maintain good working relations with professionals, staff, families and persons served.
  • Keep individual file on each participant up-to-date. Complete all assigned duties and paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Attend all necessary training’s and staff meetings within the time lines established.
  • Ensure all medical appointments are completed within established timeframes.
  • Maintain and turn in, on time, to the appropriate individual time sheets, progress notes, and ISP, Semi-Annual and Quarterly reports.
  • Assist in the development of a variety of community activities and experiences providing opportunities for adults to assume and maintain valued roles and relationships. Show innovation and insight in defining roles; develop community's ability to provide supports.
  • Assist the person that you are serving to develop a sense of identity, self-worth and independence. Facilitate starting and maintaining friendships in the community.
  • Encourage and maintain active teamwork. Problem solve in a professional, non-hostile manner.
  • Provide support and assistance to people with Mild Intellectual Disabilities, Autism and other Regional Center qualifying disabilities
  • Responsible for assisting individuals with living skills instruction and support in their homes and in the community
  • Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, teaching participant to: money management, managing benefits, monitor health and safety needs, home management, organization skills, community awareness, 
  • transportation, apply for work, enroll in college classes, and find extracurricular activities etc.
  • Treat the individual with dignity and respect at all times. Ensure the individual is viewed well within the eyes of the community
  • Responsible for writing and organizing detailed progress reports and notes
  • Responsible for managing a self-directed schedule 
  • Attend any annual and quarterly meetings with the individual and their support team
  • Attend scheduled Company trainings, supervisions, and progress meetings
  • Communicate confidently with families and Regional Center personnel
  • Reports directly to a Field Supervisor and Administration

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to assist clients in their homes and in their community
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Strong familiarity with mobile apps and devices
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Must be available to work weekend or evening hours (if applicable)
  • Valid CA Driver's License, proof of auto insurance, registration, ability to drive personal vehicles
  • Must have proof of eligibility to work in the USA
  • Familiarity with Regional Center Services a plus
  • Bilingual a plus
  • 6+ months of related social service or social work experience a plus
  • Ability to work with a variety of people.
  • Ability to be flexible with work schedule.
  • Ability to value the uniqueness of each individual
  • Ability to work independently with or without direct supervision.
  • Exercise sound judgment at all times.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in writing, i.e. telephone, email, reports, etc.
