This recruitment announcement will be used to fill multiple vacancies and future vacancies for The Blue Mountain Management Unit that operates out of Emigrant Springs State Heritage Area. In addition to Emigrant Springs, the Blue Mountain MU also operates and maintains Hat Rock State Park, Hilgard Junction State Park, Red Bridge State Wayside, Catherine Creek State Park, Blue Mountain Forest State Scenic Corridor, Battle Mountain Forest State Scenic Corridor, and the Ukiah-Dale State Scenic Forest Corridor. 

This position falls under the classification Park Ranger Assistant.

What you will do:

As a Seasonal Park Ranger Assistant, you will perform basic tasks in a single area of park operations such as janitorial work, landscape maintenance, interpretation or visitor services, although some positions will require performing tasks in a variety of areas.

Minimum Qualifications:

(a) Six (6) months of experience (paid or unpaid) performing public contact or customer service duties (e.g. Teacher, Customer Service Representative, Salesperson, Receptionist, etc.) and/or maintenance experience (construction trades, landscaping, custodial, etc.).

OR

Six (6) months of college in any discipline (24 quarter hours/16 semester hours).

What we are looking for (Desired Attributes):

• Ability to maintain composure during emergency or emotionally charged situations.
• Experience safely using tools, material and equipment associated with landscape and building maintenance.
• Experience assisting with the performance of basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, groundskeeping tasks.
• Ability to provide factual information based on observation, knowledge and understanding.
• Basic computer skills.
• Experience in promoting a culturally competent and diverse work environment.
