Salary: $2,723 – $3,439 per month

Locations: Clyde Holliday State Park or Unity Lake State Recreation Site

What you will do:

In this position, you will have the opportunity to focus on resource interpretation, landscape maintenance, facility maintenance. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:


Resource Interpretation

  • Assist in assembling materials and resources for the development of interpretive presentations
  • Present evening campground presentations, lead hikes and walk & talk presentations, give Junior Ranger presentations, etc.


Landscape Maintenance

  • Plant vegetation, mow lawns, and maintain irrigation systems
  • Prune trees and shrubs using manual and power tools, as well as apply fertilizers and pesticides


Facility Maintenance

  • Assist in construction, maintenance, and restoration of hiking trails, footbridges, parking areas, and curbs
  • Assist with basic tasks associated with painting, electrical systems, water and sewer systems, plumbing, carpentry


Additional Duties

  • Custodial maintenance including maintenance of rest rooms, showers, shops, etc.
  • Visitor services such as registering campers, accepting payments, and providing information about the park
  • Patrolling park areas and reporting findings to park rangers or management

  • Ability to listen to what people say and asking appropriate questions to obtain needed information.
  • Skill in common courtesy while communicating with others.
  • Ability to compose emails and navigate programs on a personal computer.
  • Experience providing people with rule information and asking for compliance.
  • Experience making change and preparing simple cash reconciliation reports.
  • Skill in assisting with basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, and grounds keeping tasks.



Minimum Qualifications:

  • Six months of experience (paid or unpaid) performing public contact or customer service duties (e.g. Teacher, Customer Service Representative, Salesperson, Receptionist, etc.) and/or maintenance experience (construction trades, landscaping, custodial, etc.)
  • OR Six months of college in any discipline (24 quarter hours/16 semester hours)
