Job Summary

This position will be the main contact for customers regarding the requirements, policies and procedures of development inspections (DIN), pre-construction meetings, tracking stormwater inspections for maintenance warranty, grading applications, submittal requirements for all development Engineering applications, completeness checks, calculating and requesting fees, scanning, prepare approval letters, public records requests, related technical services and minor land use information in the Development Engineering division of Community Development.  The incumbent will act as liaison between the public and technical staff and provide general information regarding other divisions within the department; refer customers to appropriate outside agencies and respond to customers via phones, email, postal mail and walk-ins and possible back-up routing of projects to departments for other reviews. The position will perform customer service for Development Engineering in the Clark County Permit Center. Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience: 

 

  • Two (2) years paraprofessional experience in civil engineering, planning or other related field; preferred but not required

 

- OR -

 

  • Any combination of education and experience which would demonstrate the ability to perform the work.

 

The ideal candidate will have the following strengths:

 

  • Excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills
  • Strong customer service experience
  • Strong computer skills in Office 365
  • Experience working in GIS and/or permitting systems
  • Knowledge of land use preferred
  • Knowledge of stormwater preferred but not required

 

Knowledge of:  the objectives, principles, practices, and techniques of civil engineering, grading, stormwater and land use; laws, codes and policies governing these areas.

 

Ability to:  interpret legal documents such as zoning codes, ordinances, resolutions, and legal descriptions;  perform  in  organizing,  recording,  and  tabulating  technical  information; communicate  effectively,  both  orally  and  in  writing;  be  courteous  with  the  public,  other employees and staff of other agencies; follow oral and written instructions; operate standard office machines and equipment; perform field assignments as directed; obtain a valid Driver’s License; and so forth.
