Job Summary
This position works with the Community Health Director and Healthy Communities Team to support Foundational Public Health Services (FPHS) Lifecourse (i.e., Chronic Disease, Violence, and Injury Prevention, Pregnant and Parenting Families (also known as Maternal Child Health), and Access to Care) policy initiatives analysis and development with the goal of improving health for Clark County residents. Incumbents will conduct unbiased research and analyses on population health impacts of policies, laws, codes, funding, business planning, and forecasting efforts affecting the community. The work involves expert level research, analysis, and communication on policies impacting public health and strategic financial issues that have significant impact on our local health economy.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in public health, epidemiology, public health law, or related field, and a minimum of five years of increasingly responsible related professional experience, preferably in state or local government. A related master’s degree will substitute for two years of experience.
Incumbents must demonstrate experience working with diverse community members and possess an advanced understanding of how historical and current policy practices perpetuate racism. All combinations of education, experience and training that demonstrate the ability to perform the work will be considered. Master’s Degree in public health research, policy, or health economics preferred.
