The Van G. Miller Adult Learning Center is looking for part-time English Language Learning Instructors and Substitute instructors to join their team. While working at the Adult Learning Center, you are helping make a meaningful impact on the everyday lives of their students. Students are empowered to get the education and skills they need to thrive at work, school, home, and in their community all while earning their high school equivalency diploma or learning the English language.
This position teaches English Language Learning (ELL) at the Hawkeye Community College Van G. Miller Adult Learning Center as part of the Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) program. Instructors teach seven levels of ELL classes, ranging from Pre-Literacy to Advanced, for adult immigrants and refugees. Instructors integrate College and Career Readiness Standards, 21st Century Employability Skills, English Language Proficiency Standards, and CASAS Life and Work competencies. Classes operate on a semester system under managed enrollment.

Learn and apply new strategies, methods, and initiatives.
Collaborate with other teachers, administrators, and staff for student success.
Ensure class compliance with federal, state, and college requirements.
Maintain student confidentiality.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Unless otherwise approved under Hawkeye’s remote work policy, regular on campus and/or onsite attendance is considered an essential function of the position.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in TESOL, Education, English, Teaching, or a related field.
Demonstrated ability to work with students who have widely varying instructional levels.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and professionally both in writing and in speaking.
Demonstrated ability to incorporate classroom technology and utilize Google Applications.

Preferred Qualifications
Master’s in TESOL.

Work is performed in an office setting. Sit, stand, bend, lift and move intermittently during working hours. Keeping Washington Clean and Evergreen The Office of Equity and Environmental Justice (OEEJ) within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill a Language Services Coordinator (External Civil Rights Specialist 4) position. Duties
What makes this role unique?
Within your first few months in this role, you will have the opportunity to put a new Language Access Plan into action and lead the agency through some important changes. A key aspect of this work will be to ensure that we have high-quality, timely language services through a combination of internal language teams and external vendors. You will also work to bring consistent and clear language access guidance and training to teams that serve and regulate diverse communities across the state, which can be both challenging and highly rewarding. What you will do:
Help make Ecology’s information and services accessible to more Washingtonians by leading implementation of the new Language Access Plan.
Empower agency staff to improve language access through guidance, training, and technical support.
Help our internal Multilingual Interpretation and Translation Teams (MITT) feel supported, valued, and effective through your coordination and leadership.
Streamline processes and improve language services by working collaboratively with MITT members and team sponsors.
Build clarity and consistency in how we work with external vendors to ensure high quality language services.
Leverage the enthusiasm and capacity of the Language Access Work Group to creatively and collaboratively work on a range of issues and projects.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications: Years of required experience indicated below are full-time equivalent years. Full-time equivalent experience means that any experience where working hours were less than 40 hours per week will be prorated in order to meet the equivalency of full-time. We would calculate this by looking at the total hours worked per week, divide this by 40, and then multiply by the total number of months worked. Examples of the proration calculations are:
30 hours worked per week for 20 months: (30/40) x 20 months = 15 months full-time equivalent
20 hours worked per week for 12 months: (20/40) x 12 months = 6 months full-time equivalent
Experience for both required and desired qualifications can be gained through various combinations of formal professional employment, education, and volunteer experience. See below for how you may qualify. A total of eight (8) years of experience and/or education as described below: Experience with Civil Rights Programs, using an equity lens in analyzing polices, laws, rules, or regulations, and leading others in administering Civil Rights Programs. Civil rights program experience may include civil rights investigation, law, or research; other non-discrimination efforts; or planning, implementing, or directing work in any of the following areas:
Language access.
Translation or interpretation services.
Accessibility.
ADA compliance.
Community or Tribal engagement.
Environmental justice.

Duties
What makes this role unique?
Within your first few months in this role, you will have the opportunity to put a new Language Access Plan into action and lead the agency through some important changes. A key aspect of this work will be to ensure that we have high-quality, timely language services through a combination of internal language teams and external vendors. You will also work to bring consistent and clear language access guidance and training to teams that serve and regulate diverse communities across the state, which can be both challenging and highly rewarding. What you will do:
Help make Ecology’s information and services accessible to more Washingtonians by leading implementation of the new Language Access Plan.
Empower agency staff to improve language access through guidance, training, and technical support.
Help our internal Multilingual Interpretation and Translation Teams (MITT) feel supported, valued, and effective through your coordination and leadership.
Streamline processes and improve language services by working collaboratively with MITT members and team sponsors.
Build clarity and consistency in how we work with external vendors to ensure high quality language services.
Leverage the enthusiasm and capacity of the Language Access Work Group to creatively and collaboratively work on a range of issues and projects.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications: Years of required experience indicated below are full-time equivalent years. Full-time equivalent experience means that any experience where working hours were less than 40 hours per week will be prorated in order to meet the equivalency of full-time. We would calculate this by looking at the total hours worked per week, divide this by 40, and then multiply by the total number of months worked. Examples of the proration calculations are:
30 hours worked per week for 20 months: (30/40) x 20 months = 15 months full-time equivalent
20 hours worked per week for 12 months: (20/40) x 12 months = 6 months full-time equivalent
Experience for both required and desired qualifications can be gained through various combinations of formal professional employment, education, and volunteer experience. The Facilities Department oversees the WRI Global office in Washington, DC, ensuring that the building is operating in an efficient manner. Facilities has a wide range of responsibilities, such as assigning Datawatch cards, responding to repair requests, ordering furniture and office supplies, responding to requests for temporary office space needs for new employees and interns, and assisting with mailing and packaging needs.
Job Highlight: In this role, under the supervision of the Facilities Supervisor, you will support the entire institute by providing support in all areas of Facilities.

Train staff on how to process outgoing domestic and international mail (USPS, FedEx, DHL, and UPS shipments) via XPS and NeoPost postage machine. Will process incoming mail and troubleshoot the postage machine. Order mailing supplies for various mail and delivery vendors and the postage machine (e.g., USPS, Federal Express and UPS)
Notify staff of incoming mail/packages. Forward any relevant mail electronically, as needed, for remote employees
Backup Administrator of the iOffice facilities software, working closely along with the Facilities Supervisor
Train staff on how to use iOffice. Keep the training documents up to date, along with any other communications
Back up Facilities Supervisor in processing invoices in Office 365 (WRI Payment Processing). Learning and understanding them as they are processed
Notify Facilities Supervisor of any updates needed to Banyan (WRI’s internal website) documents. Will also assist Facilities Supervisor in editing IT documents on Banyan
Process PAF for new and terminated employees
Work with Events Manager to ensure to ensure guests are given directions to the appropriate large meeting spaces
Assign security access cards (Datawatch) for all staff. Collect security cards when employees are offboarded
Maintain Omnilert our emergency alert system. Ensures that staff member’s essential information, such as mobile phone, secondary email, and business email is entered into the system, so they’re alerted in case of an emergency
Also ensures terminated staff are deleted from the system
Assist staff with business card orders to ship to home address, as necessary

Job Highlight: In this role, under the supervision of the Facilities Supervisor, you will support the entire institute by providing support in all areas of Facilities.

What you will do:
Facilities Support (95%)
Answer and distribute incoming telephone calls to appropriate staff. Greet visitors and inform appropriate staff member of their guest arrivals
Inform staff of visitor and office protocols listed on Banyan page, WRI Intranet site
Oversee the repair and maintenance of printers and copiers. Responsible for first level of problem determination, responsible for placing service calls. Facilities Maintenance Technician will back up the Facilities Coordinator, as needed to ensure copiers are running smoothly.
Maintain supply room including ordering general supplies (notebooks, pens, etc.)
Train staff on use of copiers and printers and maintain well-organized space in the mail/supply room/ and all print stations
Ensure that WRI DC office is maintained well and is appealing to staff and visitors. Notify Facilities Supervisor and Global Facilities Manager of any needed repairs.
Process facility requests through the Cushman Wakefield APA Portal Requests for HVAC, misc. cleaning/vacuuming, etc. Follow up that problem was solved
Train staff on how to process outgoing domestic and international mail (USPS, FedEx, DHL, and UPS shipments) via XPS and NeoPost postage machine. Will process incoming mail and troubleshoot the postage machine. Order mailing supplies for various mail and delivery vendors and the postage machine (e.g., USPS, Federal Express and UPS)
Notify staff of incoming mail/packages. Forward any relevant mail electronically, as needed, for remote employees
Backup Administrator of the iOffice facilities software, working closely along with the Facilities Supervisor
Train staff on how to use iOffice. Keep the training documents up to date, along with any other communications
Back up Facilities Supervisor in processing invoices in Office 365 (WRI Payment Processing). Learning and understanding them as they are processed
Notify Facilities Supervisor of any updates needed to Banyan (WRI’s internal website) documents. Will also assist Facilities Supervisor in editing IT documents on Banyan
Process PAF for new and terminated employees
Work with Events Manager to ensure to ensure guests are given directions to the appropriate large meeting spaces
Assign security access cards (Datawatch) for all staff. Collect security cards when employees are offboarded
Maintain Omnilert our emergency alert system. Ensures that staff member’s essential information, such as mobile phone, secondary email, and business email is entered into the system, so they’re alerted in case of an emergency
Also ensures terminated staff are deleted from the system
Assist staff with business card orders to ship to home address, as necessary
Ensure new staff and interns receive access to gym (submits waiver forms to Cushman Wakefield)
Backup Facilities Maintenance Assistant for trouble shooting on coffee machines and ordering supplies in their absence
IT Support (5%)
Process return labels for equipment returns to IT through XPS
Assist with any IT-related task items from Facilities Supervisor
Other tasks, as assigned

Education: A bachelor's degree or commensurate experience.
Experience: Minimum of previous Facilities experience.
Experience using Outlook and Microsoft software. Knowledge of iOffice a plus

This individual represents the WIC program by preparing and conducting investigations of reported vendor, farmers' market and participant program fraud and abuse by analyzing the results of those investigations.

The Permian Gulf Coast Coalition (PGCC) is a coalition of more than two dozen grassroots, Indigenous, and ally organizations building power to challenge one of the largest climate threats on earth: the rapidly expanding web of oil and gas wells, pipelines, petrochemical plants, and export terminals from the Permian Basin of west Texas and southeast New Mexico to the Texas and Louisiana Gulf Coast.
Founded in November 2019, our coalition is governed by a steering committee that is anchored by Indigenous, people of color led, and select ally organizations most impacted by the buildout of new oil, gas, and petrochemical infrastructure, along with select ally organizations. Together, we are developing a strategy to confront the planned expansion of oil, gas, and petrochemical infrastructure, towards a just transition to a safe and equitable energy economy.
The PGCC seeks to hire a coordinator to help advance our coalition’s mission, by supporting the functioning of our coalition’s steering committee and working groups, recruiting and supporting coalition members, and shepherding the implementation of our campaign strategy.

The Permian Gulf Coast Coalition is aimed at slowing and stopping the oil, gas, and petrochemical buildout from the the oil fields of west Texas and southeast New Mexico to the Texas and Louisiana Gulf Coast. Expansion of oil, gas, and petrochemical infrastructure in the Gulf Coast region threatens to construct an expansive, permanent network which would have catastrophic long lasting impacts to public health, land and water resources, Indigenous sacred sites, and our global climate.
