Responsibilities

What You’ll Be Doing

Cadmus is seeking an experienced Data Architect with proven capabilities managing databases and unstructured data to join a growing and dynamic technology team. The successful candidate will support our government and private clients analyze data on their training programs, and ultimately be part of the team that enables a new capacity of data-driven decision making to improve the effectiveness of their training program. Initial projects will focus on Department of Homeland Security clients and training topics relating to cybersecurity and critical infrastructure. The successful candidate will work with clients and other stakeholders to assess available data, understand analysis requirements, and propose approaches for data mining and cleanup. The successful candidate will also work closely with Cadmus subject matter experts, business intelligence analysts, data scientists, junior data analysts, and clients. 

Responsibilities:

  • Work with clients and Cadmus subject matter experts to identify and assess available client data and relevant publicly-available datasets
  • Create processes and lead other staff in mining unstructured data and cleaning nonstandard datasets
  • Lead development of ETL processes within the constraints of the clients' security and platform requirements
  • Design database structures, including using transactional database design and data warehouse design as needed
  • Ensure database solutions are designed and constructed for scalability, performance, and security

Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience with enterprise-grade databases, standards, best practices & methodologies
  • Hands-on experience with associated database ETL tools such as Azure Data Factory or MS SSIS
  • Extensive experience with SQL and databases such as SQL Server or Oracle
  • Experience processing and extracting data from unstructured and nonstandard data sources
  • A Bachelor's degree and 5+ years relevant work experience or graduate degree plus 3+ years relevant work experience
  • Ability to work closely and collaboratively with other project team members
  • Desire to grow professionally and take on challenging work assignments
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States as a U.S Perm Resident or U.S. Citizen - Candidate will be required to obtain DHS suitability prior to starting position. 

Desired qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in emergency management, environmental science, computer science, applied mathematics or related field
  • 10 years relevant work experience
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms, preferably Spark, Databricks, or Azure technologies
  • Experience with data wrangling packages (such as R dplyr or Python pandas) and relational databases
