Job Description

 

Reporting to the HIV Surveillance Coordinator, this Provide Quality Assurance Epidemiologist (EPI1) position contributes to the organization by assuring that the fundamental activity of public health assessment is conducted in a timely and accurate way.  It contributes specifically to the mission of the Infectious Disease Assessment Unit through data quality assurance support for the Client Services, HIV Community Services, and Prevention programs using the Provide Data System for data collection and management. 

 

This position provides support through data related quality assurance activities for the Provide Data System that contains data from several programs: EIP (HIV Early Intervention Program, Washington State’s AIDS Drug Assistance Program), HIV Case Management, HIV PAHR (Persons at High Risk) Services which includes PrEP DAP (the HIV Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis Drug Assistance Program) and non-clinical HIV/STD testing programs. 

 

Quality Assurance Epidemiologist responsibilities include:

  • Working with program and epidemiology staff to identify quality assurance needs.
  • Analyzing and extracting data from the data system.
  • Evaluating and monitoring the quality of system data.
  • Participating in the implementation of data system changes, updates, or other necessary development performed by either Health Technology Solutions (HTS) or vendor contracts.
  • Developing data reports for state, federal and local agencies and investigating and resolving data quality problems in Provide.

Currently, this position may be located anywhere within the State of Washington. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, telework (mobile-work) is expected. When approved to return, the incumbent will work with their supervisor to identify an appropriate work schedule and balance, including telework and reporting to the Tumwater duty station for work activities.  It is anticipated that the incumbent would be expected to report to the Tumwater duty station for work activities 1 day per month.

 

About the Office of Infectious Disease

The Office of Infectious Disease (OID) Assessment Unit (AU) is responsible for statewide surveillance and investigation of HIV, sexually transmitted infections (STIs; primarily chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis), and hepatitis C (HCV), and data and data system support for the HIV, STD, HCV, and Drug User Health (DUH) programs. These data are used to develop strategies and programs to address health disparities and health inequities in communities disproportionately impacted by infectious disease.
