On-Call Lead Floor Technician Position
The Lead Floor Technician is responsible for performing special project work that includes floor care as well as some other detailed cleaning jobs. Hawkeye Community College’s Regional Transportation and Training Center has an immediate need for CDL Semi Truck Driving Instructors in the Cedar Valley and Peosta area. As an instructor, you would be delivering hands on in-cab and on-range instruction to students using a full-size tractor-trailer as well as skills monitoring and road monitoring to students in transportation programs or contracted training classes. Teaching assignments may be at various sites and in various formats and be held on days, evenings, and weekends. Instructors will plan and guide the learning processes for students toward the achievement in obtaining their CDL license and employment goals.
The Regional Transportation Training Center, located south of the main campus, is a training location for a variety of short-term training and continuing education driving courses. The driving range features an open driving area, 26-foot-wide road, inclines, and left and right turns. The center's building houses classrooms, drive through truck bays, and four virtual driving simulators .

Essential Job Functions
Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Teaches students to develop skills in shifting, clutching, cornering, backing, driving, coupling, inspecting and all other necessary competencies in becoming an entry level truck driver.
Employs instructional methods and materials appropriate for meeting stated objectives, assesses accomplishments of students, and provides progress reports as requested and required.
Teaches students to understand vehicle components in order to perform pre and post trip inspections.
Instructs students on location and purpose of various components in diesel trucks and semi-trailers.
Ensures that Hawkeye Community College and other vendor equipment (e.g. trucks, trailers), facilities, and tools are kept clean and in good condition.
Provides instruction to individuals enrolled in transportation programs at the Regional Transportation Training Center or at various company locations.
Knowledge of State and Federal regulations.
Adheres to DOT, Hawkeye Community College, and departmental safety regulations and rules.
Treats and respects all students equally and addresses any inappropriate behavior promptly and fairly.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 2 years on the road or local driving experience.
Hold current CDL Class A license.
Demonstrated ability to utilize and operate full size semi-trucks during instruction.

Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills to positively interact with students, faculty, and staff.

Teaches students to develop skills in shifting, clutching, cornering, backing, driving, coupling, inspecting and all other necessary competencies in becoming an entry level truck driver.

Teaches students to understand vehicle components in order to perform pre and post trip inspections.

Provides instruction to individuals enrolled in transportation programs at the Regional Transportation Training Center or at various company locations.

Minimum Qualifications

Program Counselor Farm and/or Low Ropes/Zip/Challenge Course Duties: The Program Lead will assist Program Counselors with overall supervision and guidance related to campers. Additionally, the Program Counselor lives with and provides programming for units of 12-24 campers during 3-day, 6-day, and 9-day residential camp sessions. The Program Counselor will plan, direct, and implement activities in one or more assigned specialty themes each week for a unit of 12-24 campers. Program Counselor Duties: The Program Counselor lives with and provides programming for units of 12-24 campers during 3-day, 6-day, and 9-day residential camp sessions. The Program Counselor will plan, direct, and implement activities in one or more assigned specialty themes each week for a unit of 12-24 campers. Daily and weekly schedules are developed under the direction of supervisors and in cooperation with other unit staff, based on camp program, activity planning, and camp goals. This role works on a team of 2-5 other cabin staff implementing all camp duties and responsibilities in order to support and counsel the unit of campers in daily living, camp activities and developing peer relationships all while carrying out camp goals. A primary function of this, and every other job at the Sky High Ranch, is to ensure that each member, guest and visitor receives the highest caliber of service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Create and maintain a positive rapport and communication with campers, parents, volunteers, and staff.
Guide campers in developing peer relationships which includes and appreciates all members and accepts individual differences.

Program Counselor Duties: The Program Counselor lives with and provides programming for units of 12-24 campers during 3-day, 6-day, and 9-day residential camp sessions. The Program Counselor will plan, direct, and implement activities in one or more assigned specialty themes each week for a unit of 12-24 campers. Daily and weekly schedules are developed under the direction of supervisors and in cooperation with other unit staff, based on camp program, activity planning, and camp goals. This role works on a team of 2-5 other cabin staff implementing all camp duties and responsibilities in order to support and counsel the unit of campers in daily living, camp activities and developing peer relationships all while carrying out camp goals. A primary function of this, and every other job at the Sky High Ranch, is to ensure that each member, guest and visitor receives the highest caliber of service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Create and maintain a positive rapport and communication with campers, parents, volunteers, and staff.
Guide campers in developing peer relationships which includes and appreciates all members and accepts individual differences.
Get to know camper's strengths and weaknesses regarding the program. Consistently show interest in the campers.
Work in conjunction with Unit Staff, CITs, PAs, and Volunteers providing adequate support.

Duties
What makes this role unique? In addition to a wide variety of HR generalist functions, you will serve as the subject matter expert and HR lead in Reasonable Accommodation, focusing on applying process improvement principles and methodologies to the reasonable accommodation process. You will develop and update supervisor and employee resources related to accommodations. This position is not transaction-focused, rather the focus is on consulting, creating, and improving. The Young Learners Childcare Center (YLCC) is designed to provide free, temporary, short-term childcare for the students of the Excel Center until regular childcare is located. The YLCC is available when students are studying on-site or are in class, and will serve children up to age 12.
The Young Learners Childcare Manager ensures the safe and caring management of all the children entrusted to the center, as well as the part-time staff, and other qualified participants. Duties involve hiring, training, coaching, and assisting with monitoring children in the center, setting schedules, and developing learning opportunities for the children while in our care. Keeps parents informed of policies and procedures at the center as well as provides effective resolution for any conflicts that should arise.

This is a full-time Monday-Friday on-site position and the general range is $16-$18 per hour with full benefits (below). A bilingual candidate is preferred who can speak both English and Spanish.
The Young Learners Childcare Center (YLCC) is designed to provide free, temporary, short-term childcare for the students of the Excel Center until regular childcare is located. The YLCC is available when students are studying on-site or are in class, and will serve children up to age 12.
The Young Learners Childcare Manager ensures the safe and caring management of all the children entrusted to the center, as well as the part-time staff, and other qualified participants. Duties involve hiring, training, coaching, and assisting with monitoring children in the center, setting schedules, and developing learning opportunities for the children while in our care. Keeps parents informed of policies and procedures at the center as well as provides effective resolution for any conflicts that should arise.
Example Duties and Activities
Creates curriculum, lesson plans, schedules, planned outings, and field trips.
Steps in to facilitate hands-on interactive learning experiences working with students directly as needed.
Completes daily safety audits to ensure health and safety compliance guidelines. Creates and maintains a task list to achieve timely completion of audit items.
Oversees the registration of students.
Tracks, documents, and ensures accuracy of center’s files: student attendance, snack usage, budget, ages, families served, etc.
Orders and maintains all supplies for location.
Maintains regular communication with parents regarding services, enrollment, scheduling or routine changes, and special events for the children. Creates a monthly newsletter for parents.
Coaches parents on how to create learning opportunities at home.
Participates in regular Excel Center team meetings.
Ensures all staff members have appropriate tools to effectively perform their duties, including updated training manuals, reference guides, and best practices procedures. Provides in-service training for team members in areas such as new policies, procedures, and regulations.
Evaluates the performance of staff members and recommends indicated action.
Tracks attendant’s documents, attendance, and training.
Develops personal professional/performance goals and action plans to reach goals. Reflects on prior goals and makes adjustments to professional practice and goals.
Works directly with the school director to develop and implement school-wide goals around graduation outcomes, enrollment needs, student achievement, retention, etc.
Sets and maintains a high-performance culture for staff and students.
Participates in student recruitment, enrollment, and outreach efforts.
Required Competencies
Degree and Credential Requirements - High school diploma or GED required. Continuing education in child development, early childhood education, or related field is highly preferred. Child/infant CPR certified or willing to obtain.
Industry Expertise - Has worked in a childcare setting, ideally in a supervisory role.
Communication Skills - Articulates thoughts and expresses ideas effectively using oral, written, visual, and non-verbal communication skills, as well as listening skills to comprehend customers' needs. Delivers information in person, in writing, and in a digital world.
Coaching - Provides timely guidance and effective feedback to empower others to strengthen specific knowledge/skill areas needed to improve instruction.
Customer Focus - Has the ability to see, comprehend and relate with students and parents in an impartial, unbiased yet effective, and balanced manner; builds and maintains customer satisfaction with the services offered by the organization; provides excellent service to internal and external customers.
Technical Knowledge – Has working knowledge of G Suite, MS Office, and the internet.
Organizational Aptitude - Plans and attends to details and pursues quality in accomplishing multiple tasks in an organized and timely fashion.
Conflict Resolution - Anticipates, diffuses, and resolves disagreements, confrontations, tensions, and complaints in a practical and constructive manner in order to achieve results.
Adaptability - Maintains effectiveness when experiencing major changes in work tasks or the work environment; adjusts effectively to work within new work structures, processes, requirements, or cultures
Other Requirements
Hard to Very Hard Physical Work - Is able to spend time in excess of 8 hours sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and crouching. Has the ability to move and lift up to 40 pounds.
Minimum of 18 years of age
Background Screening - The YLCC cares for some of our most vulnerable populations, children. As a result, all candidates must pass a pre-employment background check.
