The Hurricane Ian Long-term Recovery Community Recovery Manager (CRM) reports to the Deputy Director, Hurricane Ian Long-Term Recovery and serves as support in a Red Cross region when a Recovery Program is implemented post-disaster. Managers are assigned to specific counties and play a primary role in solidifying relationships with partner organizations of all types, providing support, training, and technical expertise in community settings where organizations and individuals come together to work toward recovery. Managers collaborate with regional and chapter employees and volunteers to build capacity in the local community for the disaster cycle. This role will work closely with regional, chapter, and National Headquarters volunteers and employees. This is a hybrid (remote and in-person) position working in Brevard, Flagler, St. Johns, Orange, Osceola, Putnam, Seminole, and Volusia counties. Frequent travel in these counties for meetings and other activities will be required. This is a term-limited, benefits eligible position expected to last 12 months from date of hire with the opportunity to extend based on business need.
On September 28, 2022, Hurricane Ian made landfall in Florida, becoming one of the strongest hurricanes on record in the United States and the deadliest to affect the state in decades. The American Red Cross will be standing up a long-term recovery field structure across the impacted to provide recovery programming and services to individuals, households, and communities affected by the storm.
We are currently seeking an innovative recovery professional to serve as a Community Recovery Manager for the Hurricane Ian Long-Term Recovery Program. This position will reside within an assigned geographic area in Florida. This is a term-limited, benefits eligible position expected to last 12 months from date of hire with the opportunity to extend based on business need.

We are currently seeking a Hurricane Ian Long-Term Recovery Community Recovery Manager (Central Florida)
This position will work 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday, and some weekends and evenings will be required during times of business need. Travel will also be involved up to 50% of the time.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Overview):
Provide functional expertise to Leadership at a regional level or take full cycle responsibility to provide service delivery programs within a defined geography. Through a trained and engaged volunteer workforce, support local communities by providing services to include but are not limited to: response to recurrent local disasters (house fires, floods, etc.), capacity building for mass care service delivery, participation in the Home Fire Campaign, and direct assistance and recovery services to those impacted by disasters. Develop, guide, lead, and support team of trained volunteers, as well as implement and develop initiatives to increase Red Cross visibility through program/service delivery of disaster preparedness, response, and recovery programs. Act as a program or service subject matter expert (SME) to staff, management, volunteers and external partners. Specific duties to be assigned at the discretion of the region based on municipalities within coverage area, amount and complexity of program activity, presence of significant grant funding, geography, risk, population, frequency of events, and regional structure. Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers.
Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with standard operating procedures and other applicable Federal, State and local regulations.
WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE GOOD (Key Responsibilities):
1: Responsible for ensuring the American Red Cross is engaged with all Long-Term Recovery Groups post-disaster within a defined territory and participating in LTRG meetings
2: In collaboration with the Executive Director, Disaster Program Manager, Disaster Program Specialist, and other internal stakeholders liaise with voluntary, faith-based and community-based organizations (VOAD community), as well as emergency management community, for post-disaster recovery planning within a defined territory
3: Ensures that community efforts and Red Cross services reach all affected populations, especially vulnerable and underserved communities
4: Act as SME to Disaster Program Managers and Specialists and volunteers within defined territory on issues relevant to meeting client needs and maintaining client focus of all response and recovery activities
5: May serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for the Disaster Case Management Program (Federal/State Program) and be provide support to disaster case management planning with multi-agency partners (government and non-government)
6: Support provision of assistance to individuals and households with remaining unmet needs and qualifying barriers to recovery
7: Under the direction of management, liaise with NHQ Long Term Recovery partners to ensure consistency in service delivery across the American Red Cross
8: In collaboration with regional Disaster Cycle Services, build and manage team of community recovery volunteers to execute community engagement strategy in designated area
9: Other duties as assigned
Standard Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00am – 5:00PM
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications):
Education: Bachelor's degree required.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of related experience with building, mobilizing, leading and developing volunteer teams to execute a social services program or service, or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
