The American Red Cross is currently seeking a Senior Technical Volunteer Systems Lead, to support our business units.   This is a work-from-home opportunity within the United States.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

As a Volunteer Management Solutions team member, the Senior Technical Volunteer System Lead partners with business clients to deliver and support system functionality and program activities on the enterprise-wide volunteer management system.  The System Lead must understand the organization’s volunteer management initiatives, collaborate with various teams to architect, design and implement system change in line with business processes and serve as technical subject matter experts.  Responsible for coordinating team resources to document workflows and make appropriate recommendations to positively impact project effectiveness while enforcing standards and best ARC business practices.

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE GOOD:

As a Senior Technical Systems Lead , you will be responsible for:

  • Serve as the volunteer management system technical subject matter expert, maintaining fluency in the current volunteer management system by developing an understanding of the core volunteer management system and business operations, including volunteer recruitment, engagement, tracking, and assignments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, vendors, and business stakeholders, to define project scope, requirements, and technical design/solution and lead the implementation process.
  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex technical projects, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Monitor project progress and performance against established metrics and use tools to communicate regular project management updates to stakeholders, informing of project statuses, issues/risks, and recommended solutions.
  • Worked closely with the vendor’s implementation team, software engineers, QA, product managers, and other engineering teams to get high-quality products and features through the software project lifecycle (build, test, and release on time).
  • Coordinate the development of new technologies with the IT vendor team, test and review solutions, and drive delivery of project work with the vendors.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve problems, gaps, and challenges in software engineering processes, including applications, mobile apps, and integrations.
  • Document system functionality with agreed processes and procedures.
  • Responsible for reviewing and maintaining system jurisdictional changes as needed and communicating with stakeholders to facilitate the process.
  • Ensure business project and reporting capabilities are accounted for and in alignment to support business objectives.
  • Responsible for analyzing project data and system metrics to assess project performance and make data-driven decisions.
  • Training and guiding team members and volunteers and fostering effective teamwork.
  • Support off-hours releases and coordinate outages with stakeholders.
  • Rotations for on-call schedule for priority tickets.
  • Support Disaster Operations as needed.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
Experience: Minimum 7 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
Management Experience: N/A
Travel: Travel may be required.

Drive: Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The work environment will consist of moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones, and printers, light traffic). The employee must have the ability to work in a small cubicle and have the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodology and related tools (E.g., Jira)
  • Experience with developing integrations and SQL queries.
  • Experience leading technical solution design sessions, ability to ask hard questions during those sessions, and suggest best practices and efficient ways of implementing business processes.
  • Excellent oral and written communication with the ability to interact effectively with various stakeholders, from management to technical staff.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in collaboration and communication with business-led product teams and stakeholders.  Ability to build strong partnerships with product managers and business owners to act as one product team driving toward mission outcomes.
  • Demonstrated capability in managing cross-functional matrix project teams, including execution, design, planning, and delivery of integration solutions.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and a strong willingness to see a problem through to its resolution.
  • Ability to manage time and work effectively within short development cycles.
  • Experience with Volunteer Connection or Red Cross volunteer management processes a plus.

SALARY INFORMATION:

The salary range for this position is $95,000 -$110,000.

Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have, and comparison to other employees already in this role.
