What You'll Be Doing in the role of Senior Director of Engineering & Architecture
The Senior Director of Engineering & Architecture will be a technology leader and advocate within Komen. The ideal candidate is a senior IT executive who has responsibility for translating business strategies and operational models into technology, applications, data, and business processes roadmaps required to enable them.
The Senior Director candidate must be strategic and forward-thinking, working with key leadership and subject matter experts throughout the corporation to define roadmaps and plans that will streamline the business and remove complexities within the organization.
Additionally, this candidate is a passionate advocate for how technology can advance our organization’s mission and support fundraising and operational goals, have the communication skills to build support for that vision and have a proven track record of leading teams to deliver results. This is a hands-on role where the ideal candidate will be required to “roll-up-the-sleeves” on design, code reviews, and deployment.
What You Will Bring to the Table
Work closely with the business owners, product owners, and engineering teams to deliver high quality, flexible, and extensible business solutions.
Cultivate strong and effective relationships with stakeholders through proactive communication and being an active partner for improving business systems and services.
Deliver a robust end-state vision architecture that enables the Enterprise to be in the most efficient and secure IT environment possible.
Optimize the enterprise by working across organizational and application silos to drive common and standard approaches.
Lead team of software engineers, quality assurance engineers, and information technology experts to translate functional requirements into technology specifications and software applications.
Collaborates closely with the Dr. of Product Management and other peers in defining, maintaining, and delivering the technology roadmap.
Serve as a technical & architectural thought leader and sounding board for the team and lead the effective prioritization and delegation of work assignments.
Design, evangelize and implement best practices in various application layers, data connectors, and integration connectors. Mentor direct and matrixed resources to follow design and development best practices.
Lead the team to manage the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the CRM & P2P platforms.
Collaborate with the cross-functional teams and Product Management to plan and execute enhancements in CRM & P2P platforms that address business needs. This scope of work covers web, application, APIs/Services, data, and analytics.
Lead the team to design, build and maintain the integrations and connections between CRM & P2P platforms as well as bi-directional integrations with the CRM platform.
Lead the effort to ensure the CRM system continues to remain the ‘System of Record’ platform.
Design, develop and deploy front-end (HTML, JavaScript, Angular) and back-end (C#) modules and integration connectors.
Design, develop and deploy Data storage and data connectors. This includes database & table schema, Stored Procedures, and SQL jobs.
Design, develop and deploy integration connectors with various homegrown & 3rd party on-Prem and cloud-based solutions. Manage projects from inception to implementation and beyond.
Define and execute Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) strategies for the lift-and-shift of legacy on-prem solutions to the cloud while also moving towards Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) solutions for new solutions.
Develop, maintain, and ensure adherence of software development life cycle (SDLC) to facilitate high-quality software and overall development and deployment process.
Implement best practices, strong design, and development principles to ensure high-quality, secure, scalable, and maintainable software while encouraging the team’s individual creativity and ingenuity along with a goal of continuous improvement.
Work closely with the network team in defining robust DevOps practices. This includes configuring and implementing various environments (Dev, Test, UAT, Stage & Prod) that incorporate strong access controls (Network, user, and application).
Report to senior management and business project management on the project’s design, development, testing, and deployment processes.
Budget management, project prioritization, research, and recommendation of new systems/software products and services.
We Already Know You Will Also Have
Minimum of 15 years of experience in roles such as systems architect, software architect, and enterprise architect in an organization developing and deploying custom applications that are integrated with on-premises software packages and SaaS solutions.
Experience managing Salesforce and Blackbaud or similar P2P fundraising platforms.
Experience in directly managing or closely working with payment systems, and email systems.
Essential skills include Microsoft Technologies Stack; Enterprise Applications; SOA.
Design Patterns; N-Tier Solutions; Code; Design; Scalability, Performance; Code; Application Architecture; Cloud Architecture; Data Architecture.
Architect and develop features for a complex data analytics store that conforms disparate data from multiple sources.
Exceptional understanding of Azure (or similar) Cloud, Microservices, and service-oriented architectures.
Strong knowledge of system and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies.
Ability to engage in senior-level technology decision maker discussions related to agility, business value, and end-to-end information technology.
Requires strong ability to listen and synthesize, develop frameworks, and create clear and compelling project planning, communication, and presentation materials including business cases, teamwork plans, implementation roadmaps, etc.
Ability to meet aggressive deadlines, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and work in a fast-paced, dynamic, customer and team-oriented work environment.
Experience working with JIRA.
