Job Description

PeopleTec, Inc. is currently seeking a Software Quality Assurance Engineer to support the TARDEC's Software Engineering Center, Department of Army in the Warren, MI location.

The Software Quality Assurance Engineer will ensure the integrity, reliability and reproducibility of our internally and externally developed embedded software products for military systems from conception to release with a hands-on role in support of software for the Army's current and future ground combat and tactical vehicles, weapons and support systems, requiring involvement in all stages of the development cycle.

 

Job Description:

  • Provide the necessary definition, development and deployment of TARDECs software quality assurance strategy, addressing all phases of embedded software/product development.
  • Develop/execute quality assurance program plans.
  • Establish a process and product quality control tolerance ranges for compliance and acceptability/qualification.
  • Review requirements, specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback.
  • Review, verify and validate software & process change requests and authenticates code implementations.
  • Monitor every phase of the software development process so as to ensure design quality, making sure that the software adheres to the standards set by the agreement between the organization and customer.
  • Maintain product consistency throughout product cycle, to include the design, define and build phases through quality checkpoints.
  • Conduct functional & physical configuration audits for product acceptance/qualification/release.
  • Ensure that software products work as intended prior to release to the customer.
  • Develop and manage quality assurance metrics.
  • Recommend and implement approved quality improvement processes.
  • Oversee and provide final approval of product testing efforts.
  • Involvement in the entire software development lifecycle to include: software design, writing source code, control of source code, reviewing code, configuration management, change management, program testing, integration of software and release management processes.
  • Maintains quality assurance issue database and tracks items to closure.

 

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Must have excellent problem solving, interpersonal communication and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of implementing the software quality assurance discipline for the entire life cycle of systems from initial requirements and capabilities baselines to system end-of-life.
  • Knowledge of Lean/Six-Sigma principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of software engineering and lifecycle management standards, regulations, processes and best practices.
  • Skill in defining, implementing and executing software quality best practices and procedures to design, influence, and drive quality and testing of our software.
  • Ability to apply concepts and define and implement software quality assurance processes and procedures.
  • Ability to inspire team confidence and respect while motivating team members in a creative and effective manner.
  • Ability to review functional and technical documentation from requirements.
  • Ability to review source code against chosen coding standards.
  • Experience with developing or modifying software quality assurance plans, policies, and procedures tailored to the complexity and scope of the developmental or operational system.
  • Experience with implementation and administration of Software Quality Assurance metrics, such as defect profiles and performance to entry/exit criteria.
  • Experience with Linux and/or QNX required, other embedded OS experience strongly desired - preferably command line and not just GUI desktop usage.
  • Experience with software industry best practices like Capability Maturity Model Integrated at least level 3 standards.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • A Secret clearance is required to perform this work.  Candidates are required to have an active clearance upon hire, and the ability to maintain this clearance level during their employment.

 

Educational Requirements:

A Master's Degree in Software Engineering with course work related to Software Quality Assurance and Release Management is preferred.  A minimum requirement of a completed Bachelor's Degree in Software or Computer Engineering or Computer Science with course work related to Software Engineering.
