Job Purpose
Carpenter and Lock Shop Supervisor plans, supervises, & assigns work to carpentry staff that perform skilled/complex carpentry work in the renovation, design, installation, repair & maintenance of College facilities. Oversees and assigns work to Lock Shop staff that perform skilled/complex locksmith work to over 10,000 locks on campus. Oversees general building lock and door hardware systems in the renovation, design, installation, repair & maintenance of College facilities. Instructs carpentry personnel in complex woodworking techniques. Evaluates specific needs of each job, prepares estimates, places orders for materials, & tracks cost. Determines work order priority & schedules work to be completed. Performs admin tasks & accesses work orders in Maintenance Direct via computer. Provides technical assistance to Project Coordinators.
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma and six years of experience in the carpentry trade. Graduate of technical or carpentry school preferred. Must be a highly skilled carpenter with considerable knowledge of standard practices, methodology, techniques and requirements of the carpentry trade. Two years of supervisory experience required. Must have a valid SC Driver’s License, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment, as the employee will be required to drive state vehicles to transport equipment and/or personnel. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience an/or education and encourage to apply.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must have the ability & skill to locate & correct emergency, general, & complex carpentry problems. Must be knowledgeable & skilled in using tools, equipment, materials & supplies of the carpentry trade. Must be able to comprehend blueprints, plans & specifications & know structural support/load bearing requirements. Must also be knowledgeable in all facets of installation, repair, & maintenance of drywall, tile, bricks, pavers, & Formica. Knowledge and experience with historic preservation is a plus. Position requires basic computer skills and working knowledge and experience in using e-mail. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) is preferred. Experience in utilizing on-line work order systems is a plus. Skill with electronic devices such as iPhone and iPad is preferred. Must be able to follow oral & written instructions. All employees at the College are expected to perform their jobs in a safe manner in accordance with best safety practices as prescribed by their department, the Office of Environmental Health and Safety, and the Occupational Health and Safety Administration training as provided by Facilities Management at the College of Charleston.

Must be able to perform duties as described and work both indoors and outdoors in all types of weather. Must be able to work in close quarters, climb ladders/stairs, enter/exit hatches, & work on rooftops. Must be able to work in areas of excessive heat/cold and lift or move furniture, objects, heavy components, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Overtime & call back work is required after normal working hours & on weekends as needed. DER seeks an experienced professional to join our team as an Ecological Restoration Engineer within the Technical Services Branch. The Technical Service Branch provides restoration planning, engineering assistance, knowledge management, and other services in support of DER’s restoration programs, operations, and communications.
The Ecological Restoration Engineer (Restoration Engineer) works across restoration programs to build and support the Division’s restoration engineering and project management approaches. The Restoration Engineer works closely with Restoration Section staff to support and enhance the quality, efficiency, and technical rigor of DER’s restoration work. The position requires significant leadership, sound professional judgment, and a high level of professional expertise with ecological restoration, engineering in riverine and wetland settings, and the discipline of project management. They will develop and launch DER’s Project Engineering and Management strategy, implement technical QA/QC processes, and provide engineering technical assistance to DER staff, partners, and projects. The position will support project engineering and management capabilities for a diverse range of restoration activities, including wetland restoration, river and stream continuity, dam removal, retired cranberry bog restoration, and regional restoration partnerships. The outcomes of this work will build DER and partner capacity to reduce project risks, improve project management practices, and increase the pace, scale, and impact of restoration throughout Massachusetts.

The Ecological Restoration Engineer will be based in DER’s Boston office; the position will follow a hybrid schedule, consisting of in-office and telework. In-state travel to meetings and site visits is required.
DETAILED STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
These duties will be carried out in close collaboration with DER’s Habitat Restoration and Capacity Building branches and other Division staff.
Develop and Implement DER’s Restoration Engineering Approach (40%)
o Assess DER’s current approach to restoration engineering, including dam removal, culvert upgrade, coastal wetland restoration, and other restoration project types.
o Develop and implement a comprehensive restoration engineering approach that includes ecological restoration engineering best practices, policies, procedures, and standards.
o Ensure projects use best engineering practices, incorporate climate change appropriately into design work, and utilize DER’s internal knowledge base of proven methods and lessons learned.
o Develop and implement the Division’s approach for technical QA/QC review of restoration engineering and design products. Determine appropriate QA/QC measures to mitigate risks and ensure successful outcomes from project selection through post-construction monitoring and adaptive management.
o Serve as a restoration engineering advisor on select restoration projects with complex engineering, hydrologic, and other needs.
o Regularly review and update DER’s restoration engineering strategy and services to respond to changing needs.
Develop restoration engineering and project management tools, trainings, and other resources (30%)
o Develop restoration engineering tools and resources including manuals, templates, punch lists, training materials, presentations, scopes of work, and standards and specifications.
o Fully document DER’s project management approach, principles, processes, and practices, and distill into comprehensive and standardized project management manuals, guidance, tools, and trainings.
o Develop and deliver training programs and workshops restoration engineering and project management best practices.
o Support the incorporation of project manager knowledge and other PEM resources into DER’s knowledge base.

DER seeks an experienced professional to join our team as an Ecological Restoration Engineer within the Technical Services Branch. The Technical Service Branch provides restoration planning, engineering assistance, knowledge management, and other services in support of DER’s restoration programs, operations, and communications.
The Ecological Restoration Engineer (Restoration Engineer) works across restoration programs to build and support the Division’s restoration engineering and project management approaches. The Restoration Engineer works closely with Restoration Section staff to support and enhance the quality, efficiency, and technical rigor of DER’s restoration work. The position requires significant leadership, sound professional judgment, and a high level of professional expertise with ecological restoration, engineering in riverine and wetland settings, and the discipline of project management. They will develop and launch DER’s Project Engineering and Management strategy, implement technical QA/QC processes, and provide engineering technical assistance to DER staff, partners, and projects. The position will support project engineering and management capabilities for a diverse range of restoration activities, including wetland restoration, river and stream continuity, dam removal, retired cranberry bog restoration, and regional restoration partnerships. The outcomes of this work will build DER and partner capacity to reduce project risks, improve project management practices, and increase the pace, scale, and impact of restoration throughout Massachusetts.

DETAILED STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
These duties will be carried out in close collaboration with DER’s Habitat Restoration and Capacity Building branches and other Division staff.
Develop and Implement DER’s Restoration Engineering Approach (40%)
o Assess DER’s current approach to restoration engineering, including dam removal, culvert upgrade, coastal wetland restoration, and other restoration project types.
o Develop and implement a comprehensive restoration engineering approach that includes ecological restoration engineering best practices, policies, procedures, and standards.
o Ensure projects use best engineering practices, incorporate climate change appropriately into design work, and utilize DER’s internal knowledge base of proven methods and lessons learned.
o Develop and implement the Division’s approach for technical QA/QC review of restoration engineering and design products. Determine appropriate QA/QC measures to mitigate risks and ensure successful outcomes from project selection through post-construction monitoring and adaptive management.
o Serve as a restoration engineering advisor on select restoration projects with complex engineering, hydrologic, and other needs.
o Regularly review and update DER’s restoration engineering strategy and services to respond to changing needs.

The Community Associate will join the Community team at Feedback Labs and be supervised by the Senior Manager of Partnerships and Equity. The Community Associate will contribute to this mission by supporting with Feedback Labs’ membership experience, managing community-building events such as LabStorms, and assisting with fellowship and cohort programs.

Your Role
Feedback Labs is looking for an enthusiastic, collaborative, and detail-oriented person to join as a full-time Community Associate. The Community Associate will join the Community team at Feedback Labs and be supervised by the Senior Manager of Partnerships and Equity. This person will be passionate about helping nonprofits, foundations, and governments listen to their communities and incorporate feedback into programs and policies to achieve impact and foster equity. They will be able to support Feedback Labs with community events and programs. Specifically, they will:
Support Feedback Labs’ membership
Support Feedback Labs’ network of member organizations, including organization on-boarding, tracking, continued engagement, and benefits.
Offer high quality customer service to ensure all members feel part of the feedback community and can engage with Feedback Labs in productive and useful ways.
Support learning cohort programs & coaching services
Support with the application and selection process of the Feedback Champions program and any other relevant cohort programs.
Provide technical support for peer-learning sessions and provide cohort-wide email and logistical support.
Foster ongoing engagement with alumni of Fellow programs.
Coordinate and facilitate bi-weekly LabStorms
Source and prepare up to 25 diverse feedback practitioners per year to share their feedback challenges in bi-weekly LabStorms, which are a long-standing flagship program of Feedback Labs.
Drive LabStorm participation and engagement from the Feedback Labs’ community through targeted outreach and connections.
Facilitate LabStorm discussions to surface questions and ideas for LabStorm presenters.
Manage LabStorm follow up and presenter feedback.
Work with the Sr. Manager of Partnerships and Equity to develop and implement a plan for improving LabStorms based on past participant feedback.
Support Feedback Labs events
Collaborate closely with Sr. Manager, CEO, and consultants to support our annual Feedback+ Summits (check out the wrap up of last year’s Summit !) and other in-person and virtual events.
Execute Feedback Labs’ digital engagement
Maintain a drumbeat of communication to our network including a biweekly newsletter and event-related emails.
Write copy for Feedback Labs blog and newsletter (e.g. Summit wrap ups, FBL newsletter announcements).
Work with the Communications Intern to manage Feedback Labs social media accounts (i.e., Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn).
Collaborate with the Operations Team to develop and maintain a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to ensure member activities are captured correctly, and utilizing CRM to facilitate network growth and development.
Support Feedback Labs’ diversity, equity, and inclusion work
Support the Senior Manager of Partnerships and Equity in the development and implementation of programs related to our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion (e.g. Listening for Justice Blog Series, 365 Campaign)
Engage meaningfully with Feedback Labs’ staff and strategy
Collaborate across the team to support high-quality implementation of programming, including supporting other team members’ work when needed.
Contribute to discussions about long-term strategy for Feedback Labs programs.
Actively participate in internal team meetings and external sessions hosted by colleagues.
Seek out opportunities to deepen feedback knowledge and strengthen the feedback sector, including reading Feedback Labs’ bi-weekly newsletter, participating in partner webinars and discussions, and more.
Other responsibilities as jointly agreed with the Sr. Manager and CEO.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
1-2 y ears of internship or work experience in the tasks necessary for this job;
Excellent communication and customer service skills. A background supporting nonprofit communications, including newsletters, social media, and website updates is a plus;
Robust facilitation skills for facilitating virtual LabStorms;
Strong interpersonal skills to manage relationships with Feedback Labs members, fellows, and staff, and to represent Feedback Labs in external meetings;
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, switch between tasks as necessary, and meet deadlines;
Experience collaborating well across teams and all individuals equitably;
Curiosity to learn on the fly and adapt to changing circumstances quickly and productively;
A passionate belief in, and understanding of, Feedback Labs’ mission and values ;
Bachelor’s Degree or relevant life experience in marketing and communications, public administration, international development, or other relevant field.

Compensation & Benefits
Feedback Labs offers a competitive salary in the range of $42,000-52,000 commensurate with experience, along with generous benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and paid time off, sick leave, and parental leave.

Location
Feedback Labs is based out of the Open Gov Hub , located in the heart of Washington DC, a short walk from key global institutions. This creative space allows for collaboration and innovation among different groups; it also offers networking opportunities, brown-bag lunches, happy hours, access to a gym, and other activities. Feedback Labs staff are currently working from home with the option to come into the office if they choose to do so, and the organization is evaluating if/when staff will return to the office for in-person work. While this position is intended to be based in Washington DC, Feedback Labs is open to making it a fully remote position if it is determined to be mutually beneficial for the candidate and Feedback Labs. As such, Feedback Labs will consider any candidates who can work the core Feedback Labs hours (9-5pm ET) and are legally eligible to work in the United States.
