Responsibilities: The Senior Director, Revenue Cycle will lead the Revenue Cycle coordination and optimization across the health system and will be the lead to establish the strategic and operational functions for all related facilities within a large hospital system. This role will work closely with a large consulting firm to achieve various milestones within the project. You must collaborate with all parties involved.

  • Responsible for the successful operations of the Revenue Services division
  • Directs and manages all hospital patient access/admitting functions
  • Directs and manages the PFS functions ensuring adequate assessment of overall A/R and aligning daily collections activities to maximize collections
  • Sets budgetary guidelines and makes spending and resource decisions within guidelines; ensures accountability to operating and capital budget
  • Sets the division's financial performance goals and determines plans, priorities, and work assignments to achieve them
  • Evaluates effectiveness of billing and collections, and implements changes to policies, procedures and systems, as appropriate
  • Implements participative management practices and structure
  • Oversees all IS changes necessary to maintain and improve the revenue cycle
  • Develops, implements, and serves as the Division “champion” for “Best in the Nation” practices for customer service
  • Provides leadership and direction to support charity care and customer service components to ensure all patients receive outstanding service in relation to billing and payment concerns
  • Motivates, mentors and develops management team and staff to highest performance
  • Helps managers create, work within and affect change to ensure a positive, service oriented environment
  • Manages implementation of key strategies through management team; fosters an environment of accountability to create a high performing team
  • Monitors staff productivity
  • Encourages and teaches managers and staff to support core values and service expectations as well as operational policies and procedures
  • Creates a department-wide understanding of the regulatory issues affecting Revenue Services and maintains compliant policies and procedures


  • Communicates A/R performance within the organization – including senior leadership
  • Communicates policies and procedures effectively and regularly to staff
  • Provides written and verbal analyses and recommendations to managers. Prepares and delivers oral and written presentations to senior management
  • Keeps employees informed by communicating in a clear, effective, and timely manner
  • Uses a wide variety of communication formats to keep staff regularly informed: team meetings, in-services, bulletin boards, etc.



  • Education: BS in Business, Finance or Healthcare Administration; M.B.A. or other equivalent advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience: 7 or more years of increasingly responsible Revenue Cycle management experience with 3 years at the Senior Director equivalent level.

• Exceptional interpersonal skills - ability to quickly establish credibility and rapport with others. Able to build consensus among multiple stakeholders. Build lasting relationships with others

• Broad knowledge of Revenue Cycle aspects including patient scheduling, pre-registration, central registration, financial counseling, coding, billing, credit and collections

• Broad and deep knowledge of A/R management (tracking receivables levels, days of cash, cash management, days in A/R and aging)
