Deschutes County is accepting applications for an Accountant in the Solid Waste Department. This position performs professional accounting and financial analytical activities in connection with accounting for Governmental and Proprietary Funds using generally accepted accounting principles, methods, and practices. The position requires an in-depth knowledge of financial reporting and related systems, the derivation of standard costs, cost accounting. Duties include reviewing and recording receipts and expenditures and if necessary make adjustments; maintaining and reconciling accounts receivable to control totals; supporting a cost accounting system; participating in the annual budgeting process, preparing supporting schedules, balancing inter-fund activity and maintaining the audit trail; conducting cost-benefit analysis and presenting to management to assist in decision making; and maintaining the fixed asset inventory database.
