Job Description

Third Way, a center-left think tank in Washington, DC, is looking for an Economic Policy Advisor to focus on minority-and women-owned small business and entrepreneurship. This position is for someone who is passionate about devising and advancing policy solutions that help American workers recover and thrive in a post-COVID era. This person will unpack and analyze economic trends and data, convey this information to an informed audience through written and digital content, and collaborate internally and with external partners to develop and advance policy ideas that help support women- and minority-owned small businesses grow as well as those in left-behind communities.

As the Economic Policy Advisor, a typical day might include…

  • Authoring high-impact written reports, memos, and op-eds that persuasively explain how we can support entrepreneurs and small business owners, with an emphasis on women- and minority-owned businesses as well as those in left-behind communities;
  • Analyzing proposed policy ideas and assessing their impact on the United States;
  • Meeting with a diverse cross-section of external partners including Hill and Administration staff and leaders in industry, nonprofits, and academia;
  • Conducting in-depth research and analysis to better understand and explain the economy; and
  • Working with other members of Third Way’s economic, communications, and outreach teams to help plan and execute events and digital collateral.
