JOB SUMMARY
This person in this position performs all equipment operation work in the maintenance of City Right of Way including: City streets, roadways, shoulders, etc. or the maintenance division within the Parks and Recreation Department.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Parks and Recreation Department
· Operates assigned equipment in the maintenance and repair of City parks, grounds roads, streets, drainage systems, including gasoline and diesel-powered automotive and heavy equipment, light to medium duty trucks, tractors, mowers, lifts, excavators, packers, rollers and various machines, tools and power equipment;
· Cleans gutters, sidewalks, catch basins, drop inlets and facilities;
· Performs daily inspections on parks vehicles and equipment used on the job; documents and records missing equipment and/or needed repairs;
· Performs maintenance and repairs to park docks and foot bridges;
· Performs irrigation maintenance and repairs;
· Assist in properly training staff in the areas of equipment safety;
· Checks, maintains and repairs equipment, trucks, tractors, mowers, trailers and power tools etc;
· Assist in supervising labors 1, 2, 3, Inmate crew and CS workers;
· Assist in the maintenance of athletic fields;
· Assist in the maintenance and repairs of park fencing and gates;
· Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Requires a High School diploma or equivalent; one (1) year of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Requires a valid Georgia CDL Driver’s license.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This work is typically performed outdoors with the employee sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, carrying, pulling, balancing, kneeling or stooping and may require physical exertion over moderately long periods of time. The employee may lift light to moderately heavy objects and use equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity. The employee must be able to maneuver in confined spaces.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed primarily in an outdoor environment where the employee is exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, irritating chemicals and possible sustained periods in hot, cold or inclement weather. The work may require use of protective devices such as gloves and safety jackets.
