Job Description
The School of Communications is seeking a highly motivated Coordinating Producer to guide students in live-event coverage of Elon Athletics through Elon Sports Vision (ESV), an organization for students in the School of Communications. Working with the faculty director of Elon Sports Vision, the Coordinating Producer will recruit, train, and provide feedback to students engaged in the creation of high-quality athletics video productions. The goal is to offer quality experiential learning opportunities for students and provide content for Elon Athletics’ Phoenix All-Access, Elon Phoenix Weekly and the One-on-One Sports talk show. The 12-month position reports to the Director of Technology, Operations and Multimedia Projects for the School of Communications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with the Director of Video Production for Athletics to determine the streaming schedule of live-event coverage
- Supervise students in producing high-quality video coverage of Elon Athletics events for fans, parents, students, recruits, and alumni via both live stream and in-venue
- Design and build high-quality graphics to support broadcast productions
- Work with the faculty director to build a campus presence through marketing, website and social media, and recruit prospective students for Elon Sports Vision
- Support other sport productions including Elon Phoenix Weekly and One-on-One Sports talk show
- Establish training protocols for student production staff and talent
- Provide substantive feedback and critiques to guide student learning
- Create a structure for student leadership positions
- Promote opportunities for students to create post-production content
- Serve as co-advisor to Elon Sports Vision scholars of first-year students
- Collaborate with Elon Athletics to uphold the Elon Phoenix brand in relation to sport and athletics
- Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience Requirements
The position requires a bachelor’s degree; a master’s degree or progress toward one preferred. Three or more years of live sports video production, preferably at the university level.
Special Skills or Experience
- Strong knowledge of Ross Carbonite production switcher and workflow
- Strong knowledge of Ross Xpression, including creating projects from scratch and linking to data sources
- Strong knowledge of instant replay systems (Abekas Mira or similar)
- Experience working in central control room fibered to remote venues a plus
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask
