Job Description

The Art Department at Elon University seeks applicants for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level in the Foundations area. The Foundations area serves a wide range of studio and applied art disciplines. Ideal candidates will bring innovative pedagogy, with a broad vision of contemporary art and design and an interest in interdisciplinary and collaborative practices. Responsibilities will include teaching 6 courses over a three-semester year. Teaching will include studio, and courses in the Elon Core Curriculum. Candidates will also be asked to assist in managing the foundations studios.

 

The successful candidate will have an opportunity to create courses for the curriculum that come from the focus of their research specialty. Evidence of curriculum/program development preferred. Candidates who have experience working with a diverse range of people, and who can contribute to the climate of inclusivity are encouraged to identify their experiences in their cover letter. Minimum Qualifications: Master of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art, Design, or related discipline, by time of appointment. Teaching experience at the college level, with experience in Foundation’s curriculum.
