DESCRIPTION
Plan, coordinate and perform activities related to systems development and operation of the control system at the Truckee Meadows Water Reclamation Facility (TMWRF). Analyze and program control systems and networks. Troubleshoot, evaluate, and provide repairs to hardware and software as needed for all aspects of the control system.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This position class is part of a team that is responsible for the plant control system and is under the direct supervision of the plant manager.
Qualifications:
Applicants must possess the following minimum qualifications to continue in the recruitment process:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field and three (3) years of experience in developing and modifying systems and programs for real-time process control or similar applications.
Licenses and Certificates:
Specified positions may require possession and maintenance of the equivalent to a valid Nevada Class C driver's license within thirty (30) days of hire.
Example of Essential Duties:
Plan and direct installation, maintenance, and repair of control system infrastructure. Provide training to staff on the control strategy of each treatment process. Confer with staff to analyze procedures, control strategies, and data needs. Design, evaluate, and program process control strategies. Recommend changes as needed.
Work with team to install, deploy and manage servers and network equipment within the control system infrastructure.
Analyze, design, and recommend system improvements and modifications. Install and debug control system packages, diagnose system hardware, develop control strategies, and perform control system backups.
Prepare clear and concise documents, user procedures, reports, and other written materials. Provide and maintain documentation for all control strategies and evaluate and recommend equipment purchases. Train staff in the operation of computer applications, including system concepts to non-technical users.
Participate in the preparation and development of the TMWRF IT budget draft and make recommendations regarding operational and capital needs.
Maintain current knowledge of technology and new information systems and applications. Update working knowledge of wastewater computer applications software.
Interact with design engineers, vendors and contractors in the design, installation and maintenance of hardware and software. Monitor contract compliance.
Perform other duties which may be assigned.

Physical Demands:
Requires the ability to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, twist, climb ladders, lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight and to use assisted lifting techniques to lift moderate to heavy amounts of weight; to work in an industrial facility using ramps and stairs; and, to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard. Some work is performed in a computer operations environment with exposure to noise, dust, fumes and controlled environments. Must be able to follow safety procedures when working with electrical cabinets.
